Argh Acne!

www.clearskinregimen.com (also, see www.acne.org for some history about it) is pretty much the only decent way you can tackle it without resorting to antibiotics. (it's a benzoyl peroxide regimen that actually works).

your acne doesn't sound too bad and it doesn't sound like you need any antibiotics. you should be able to at the very least significantly reduce (probably completely clear up) with the topical regimen outlined on that website. be warned, it requires a bit of peserverance, but I think you'll realise it's worth it.

That clearskinregimen wesbite does work, did for at least

I have one minocyline tablet a day, and but this cream on my face at night, does the job

Those tablets are evil things, I had them for a few months and they messed my kidneys up majorly, was having constant nose bleeds, ended up in hospital.

Suppose it was the doctors fault for not doing the checks they are supposed to rather than the tablets themselves. Not a very nice experience all the same though.

BP is an antibacterial*. As anyone will tell you if you stop treatment early the infection will become resistant when you later try the same treatment. Personally i've never had a problem with this since my acne seemed to already be resistant to any known treatment on earth :(

I'm trying the healthy diet treatment now to see if it has any effect.

Just ignore the "you will want to comit suicide" warnings that generally follow that medication. While there can be physical side effects, the drug does work.

In my case it worked a little too well. My skin has dried really well, however I have been off the stuff for months yet my skin will still flake if I don't moisturise every day. I have to use lipbalm daily also. And I still look really red.

Meh, you win some, you lose some. :(
Yeah I've read long lasting side effects can be a problem.

I went on it earlier this year. I didn't have really bad acne, but the little pimples that occasionaly popped up were scarring.

Anyway, it's worked for me. It wasn't nice whilst on it, but the side effects have warn off. Hopefully they will for you too.

Just ordered those 2 for myself, although im not as bad as i once was, i still have flare ups so hoepfully with a bit of acid on my face each day it'll sort it out =]

I had that problem. I did a little research and found this.
It turned out I had to take lots of a partiular water-soluble vitamin, which had moderate results but then I looked into it further and found that the vitamin was only having an effect because it was a precursor to this. So I went and found something that was more effective at increasing levels of Coenzyme A, which was this. Once I found the right amount to take my spots cleared up completely. I ended up taking a lower dosage than they recommend, if I took too much my face spots would disappear but I would get forehead spots. The right amount stopped any spots at all.

No it's not.

Sorry sir, see my edit. Easy to get those two mixed up.

edit: Will try that CBS! Acne treatment seems to be very individual though but no harm in trying. Any idea where you bought it from. i'm assuming a health shop?

Unfortunately the only place I have ever found it is here, you'll have to order it from abroad I'm afraid in either of two sizes... but I can guatuntee that it has done wonders for myself and it is nowhere near as unpleasant as anything a Gp woudl prescribe

When I was younger I tried the acne stuff on the market and basically it did nothing for me, as the problem wasn't with my skincare/pores etc, it was hormonal.

A lot of the people here in the US swear by Proactiv solution developed by some dermatologists and it seems to work wonders but never tried it myself.

Luckily I've been acne free since i got past teenageness :)

Proactiv, god is that stuff still around? I got some on QVC about 14 years ago :D I have to say it didn't work either and it really made me smell of eggs. One of the products has sulphur in it.

ick :( well objectively my friend doesnt smell of egg so perhaps they have changed it in 14 years :p

laissez-faire I used Roaccutane for a bit, but try to avoid it as its nasty stuff.

Best cure for acne? Exercise and proper diet. Also, get yourself down your local subscription gym and use the steam room/swimming pool. Clears up your spots like no other.

I had that issue as well after i stopped taking it, and it lasted well over a year and a half I’m afraid :( After showering if i didn’t moisturise, my face would be horribly dry. It also important to dry your face by dabbing not wiping as when i did heavy exercise and went to wipe away the sweat it would sting like hell.

Im pretty much back to normal now though :)

Over at the Garden Pharmacy they do a range of Australian Bodycare products with tea tree oil. I have been using there face wash, the one in the big grey bottle for years, comes highly reccomended if your having a few spot problems. At £15 a bottle it may seem expensive but using twice a day, a bottle lasts me 6 months+

Maybe the fact I have injured my knee and can't do anything Physical is causing a bit of trouble then!
