Ark: Survival Evolved - Dinosaur MMO/Survival PVP funz!

The new biomes etc are awesome, the game updates recently have been fantastic and frequent. We've got a nice little group of OCUK/PAGAN people playing on a friends pvp server. Great fun!

:P It was a pain in the bum to get the scorps on the ramps haha but its definately worth it!

Also indeed! Less to render = less lag ^_^

How DID you get the Scorpions on the ramps?? I'm still getting to grips with this game, just getting the hang of taming.

Is this still alpha? Better than a lot of AAA titles tbh

I believe so. Definitely has issues, low FPS and weird glitches... still a great game. Has the potential to be amazing in the long run I think.

I get FPS dips but they are few and far between, haven't had any game breaking glitches in 50+ hours though :)

It probably depends on settings and system specs of course. I'm getting low 30's max, often with dips in to the 20's, and that's on a 980 @ 1440p. Some weird server issues also where I'm walking/running and then suddenly will 'jump' 50-100 yards back, as though I never covered that distance.

What are your opinions on playing this single player? Is there much to it or do you really have to be on a server to enjoy it?

With it on sale at the moment I'm kinda tempted to give it a try but would probably be playing alone.

if you mean single player, PVE yeah you can solo on a PVE server and develop, build, tame and level etc. It sill in a MMO environment so it better to play with people. It really good once you get into it.

For those that has not played this in a while it, it much better optimised than it was a good few months ago. Still not perfect but definitely beta IMO

Cheers for the reply. Think that might be OK just worried about what will happen if I'm not on regularly. Don't think I'll be on reliably enough to join a group so that's why I was asking.

Looks like I'll at least get my moneys worth out of it so I'll just go for it!

One thing to note when you log off, your body/loot doesn't disappear or is it safe in anyway so make sure you at least. Build a basic structure and pin code the door. It not impossible but you should be ok on a pve server. If you fdie you need to get your loot from your body bag when you respawn else you lose it.

I personally don't play pve much because Suvival of the Fittest Mode is best imo. It is Hunger Games with Dionsaurs lol :D I didn't log on to my pve character for months but when I logged back on was still alive

Any tips on getting better performance out of a fairly poor card? Got a 7850 and just set everything to low so far but it doesn't exactly look great. Gonna try the use all available cores and other things suggested previously but wondering which of the in game settings have the most impact and need to be kept low and which I can bump up a bit.

Edit: Found a good guide if anyone else is looking for tips, link.

Make sure when you load you use (dont use any sky effects) it still looks pretty good imo. Are you playing pve or pvp or Sotf?

I can post my configuration but it geared to give me best fps for SOTF.

:D

We're also trying out a new server plugin, Raid Protection, which shouldn't allow offline raiding.
