Ark: Survival Evolved - Dinosaur MMO/Survival PVP funz!

Come play on mine and my mates server then.
178.239.166.16:7877

We started it last week and have spent a while tweaking things to get it running nicely. 10x rates and 15x tame makes it much less of a grind. Few nice mods on there as well, increased stacks and lower weights. Better loot drops, structures plus mod. Not many players at the minute either so it's nice and chilled.
Might take you up on that

Hi all , myself and my son have rented our own Ark server ! It is on the Center map and has some mods that enhance gameplay like:

Structures+ (Greatly helps with building)
Stacking Mod (increases stackpile size and reduces overall weight a bit )
a couple of mods that give enhanced fabricators / forges etc

All things that boost gameplay.

We have taming speed at 25x Speed so taming is easier
XP gain is at 4x so you level up faster but not at a stupid speed
Gathering is also enhanced to 5x so again , it eases the grinding.
The default NPC dinos can also spawn at up to lvl 240 in the wild which keeps things "interesting"

It is currently set at PvE although we may well run some PvP events in the near future if people wish.

We are both easy to get on with and just happy to have some like minded people come and play.

Come and have a look if you fancy a game on ARK :)

Anyone with a toparkserver account feel free to positive vote pls , it would be much appreciated , we just rented the server a couple of days ago and are keen to get it out there ! :)

Sooo this early access, not complete game is £49.99 (was £54.99 yesterday)

How have we come to that unfinished early access game is the same price as AAA title....

Or is it so expensive in order for it to be heavily discounted in the very near future... If so that is just as bad.

I brought it when first announced ans put in a good solid 500+ hours and then it all went to rubbish imho with the super tech.

I play primative once in a while though as thats ok but preferomance is awful and I don't believe they have any idea how to work through game development. Jump on board with reactice changes to people complaining, dont know how to optimise, haven't followed through on a lot that was promised a lobg time back.

Shame because the premise was good.

I am not hopeful for optimisation but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as the last 4 or so patches have had a **** load of bug fixes and all been within a few weeks. I don't think they know how to go about doing optimisation for performance (as they would have at least addressed the main issues long ago....) but I can see their reasoning for not addressing it until all the content was added, if they don't get performance sorted, I can't see myself putting many more hours into the game and I definitely won't be touching PVP until the performance + lag is fixed completely.

And yeah Tony, that is why I got in the end, £7 is nothing and I have already had my moneys worth, there is absolutely no way I would have paid any near £30 let alone 50 for this game.

Nope not really. It's released but it could have just stayed as early access to be fair. They still have exactly the same patch notes lol. This game will forever be full of huge promise but a world that just frustrates with bugs and console performance on a pc. If they wouldn't have put so much fluff in the game and so many assets it would have performed so much better.

I bought it cheap in a Humble monthly bundle a while back. Due to the reports of bugs and performance issues I thought I would wait until the official release to play it when such problems were sorted. It appears that there may be a flaw in this plan...

It runs a much better for me than it did 2 months ago...but still not well enough for my liking, and the bugs oh my it's still riddled with them. Why the hell has this left early access? More to the point what happened to the beta stage?

I'm still really enjoying Ark tbh

Go back and look at some of the older gameplay vids on Youtube, to say it hasn't improved is ridiculous

Got a few clan mates who are playing loads of Conan, every time I mention Ark it's met with much scorn from them.

The thing that annoyed me with Conan is almost all the mechanics were identical even down to the recipes for axes/picks/armor/buildings and so on. Obviously games like this will always have similarities to one another but Conan just felt lazy.

Yeah it has got worse since the start. The last time it was reasonably interesting and would have been epic if they had just polished it for a year is when they first released the primitive servers. Now it's so full of rubbish like Alpha dinos and the like that. There is literally too much content.

There is so much potential and so many flaws to it. The devs really got sidetracked and killed a lot of what the game could have been. Ah well. Maybe we will see improvements in the future with the genre. Balance of the grid always seems to be the main killer with then the time it takes to destroy what was days or weeks to grind to get too.

Well I failed to pick it up in early release but paid £25 in the flash sale.

As a single player game I am Loving it

Not had any crashes, graphics look amazing at steady solid 60FPS

Yep, they are taking the mick at £50, no game is worth that atm and especially this, however it is a great game if you don't mind the grind and the long achievement duration.

I'd agree with the comment about £50 being a joke, that being said, im pretty sure it was £16 on release and has had plenty of other discounts based on that price for a couple of years. Steamsales says it was £7.35 back in July, and its only because of the retail release that its got a retail price.

What i find takes the mick is charging full price for an incomplete & future unknown title when its first on early access. At least at £50 you know what your getting, too many games cash-grab based on nothing but a concept and vision, then 6mo on its half price at every opportunity.
If the developers rewarded the early customers, and gradually increased the price as the content justified doing so - something very few developers have bothered doing (Dirt Rally is the only one i personally know of that openly added £5 to the base price when a chunk of content was added). Instead they use us to finance the title, while using us as testers they'd otherwise be paying for, putting all the risk on our shoulders and reserving the right to walk away whenever they see fit (or simply not create the game they pitched), while asking us to pay RRP on day 1 on something likely to take them 2-3yrs and will be sold for considerably less in the future too.

So a £16 game ending up at £50 doesnt bother me, thats the direction it should work.

Ark is in most ways a masterpiece, and first of it's kind to achieve anything resembling quality. Granted Minecraft is great for what it is but it isn't hard to perfect crude simplicity.

Then there are the bugs and unpoliced, hands down most toxic community in gaming (somehow worse than League of Sandbaggers) that let it down.

Not sure why people are getting butthurt over the price hike once it came out of EA? That's completely normal practice, and considering the budget that went into creating the game and the quality despite the bugginess, it's well worth £50? Most people pay similar for games with short lifespans and 1 or 2 distinctive mechanics. I mean I have 2400 hours in it ffs lol, when most games get 20-30 at a stretch, that theoretically puts the value of ARK at £500. Granted not everyone will get that mileage but it's certainly possible, the game has enough sandboxing and depth to achieve that if it clicks for you. It's like complaining that a 20 bedroom mansion costs the same as a 1 bedroom flat, it really is.
