Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead

Lets use ACE mod. its excellent mod to use. i will try and see if i can dig up a decent coop and maybe add-on map we can use but ACE as a bare minimum for a mod

I'd really like to get into this as i'm bored of BC2 and other titles just dont have enough depth but its a nightmare trying to figure out where to get started, do I just skip everything and go straight for Arrowhead?

I would imagine that when you buy it you get a gift code or are gifted a copy of the game to your steam account.

Be careful though, if the guy selling them is not a registered trader with Steam and he's found out, he'll get banned and ALL of his gifted games will be "ungifted" and you'll loose it. :)

Was a big game on last night TG + UO 90 players I think I saw. Unfortunately I missed it but hopefully will happen again sometime

Also dying to play PR but Arma is not so bad, a good thing about Team vs Team is the games dont drag so dam much, people are not backwards in wanting to win where as a bot doesnt give a crap.

Was playing a game last week, we got mortared in the base, my team was doing the usual discuss everything and spend 10 mins choosing leet weapons. We wasted time then we got wasted, fair justice I figure

Unfair ? not unrealistic, Afghanistan bases do receive mortar fire, its a real problem

Here is a list of missions possible to play, will look for some video also

I think the best way to play this game is via a clan. the problem is that you do need to dedicate a 4-5 hours a week minimum to get the best out of it because clan based sessions do last 2+hours.

Looking to join the OcUk clan, I'm badass at single player but haven't dabbled at MP yet so a bit of a noob in that respect. Any pointers at how to get into the MP action would be appreciated. Cheers

EDIT : I've only got Reinforcements so far, will that limit me ?

I asume you have combined opperations Darkstar? With the reinforcements DLC pack.

Anyway. SP is ok but only offers so much. Eventually the only war forwards is MP and its truly amazing.

First thing you will want to grab is a mic. and teamspeak.

Now arma2 is a game with a massive modding community and 99% of clans out there will have different mod requirements but whichever clan you choose will be able to sort you out modwise.

Best way to start Is to find an arma2 co-op clan. Register on their website and hop on their server/teamspeak and start chatting/gaming

Once you start working in a group. with an experienced fireteam/squad leader and stuff you will be hooked.

Now i play with a realism group called USSOCOM can find us at www.sfod-delta.com

But ill admit the realism side isnt for everyone and we have a LOT of trainings and stuff people go through.

United opperations are a clan we are friends with who are a lot more chilled out but still great fun to game with. I highly reccomend those guys.

You can find them at http://unitedoperations.net/index.php

There are many others out there that specialize in a lot of different things.

Our servers are public so you can always come on our teamspeak and server and just have fun as a "pubber" and see if you like it, maybe join at a later date if you like it :)

Thanks for the reply. It's not combined operations, it's the new ArmA II reinforcements standalone expansion where you either play as British Armed Forces or Private military company.

I'll give those links a go but excuse me for the noobish question ! What is "Teamspeak" ? is it a separate program or something or just the name for chat within the game amongst your own team ?

Teamspeak is a voice channel program.

You share a room with other people playing, its very clever now because it will link to the game and only let you hear people within speaking distance on that map or for example in the same tank.

Once you die you can discuss the game with all other spectators till the next round

Looking to get back into this again in a few months (hefty construction work starting on the house on Wednesday) so does anyone know a good clan to join for proper chatty teamwork, without any ott training, command hierarchy etc?

Haven't played for ages so I'm a bit out of the loop, and I know if I join a public server the CoD kids will ruin it for me and I'll quit. Won't be starting again for a while as I said, but there's no harm having a starting point.

Had a blast last night in this map with my own mission i created which took me 5mins to do Isla Duala - Bohemia Interactive Forums
