OA isnt the same game. They released another update to Arma 2 the other day, you might find it runs better now

Which is played the most, it is multilayer I fancy really.

If you have Arma 2 already then buy OA and you will be able to play them both together. Basically they contain separate maps and OA is a slightly newer version of the game engine

Copy the contents of Arma 2 into the OA directory then load OA and it will play both and you can play all maps. Some servers also require additional mods like ACE

I tried the six updater a while ago to download and install the ace mods, I found it extremely confusing with all the options and just a royal PITA! I ended up installing it all manually!

One thing I've been unable to find, and to enjoy, is firefights in this. I used to adore the original OFP for that, Arma2 just seems to lack it suggestions?

The amount of user made missions and campaigns (top quality) are lacking too I feel....

I suggest you use the new six updater, it is much improved in terms of UI and functionality. No more yukky web interface running off ROR.

If you are not finding good firefights... then you're not playing the right missions. Arma 2 is all down to the mission maker in terms of experience, not many people focus on the environment which is a huge deal breaker for me.

The closest Ive seen to a firefight is the video I posted above. It requires a city which OA does have but theres no way arma plays as fluid as a normal fps

Anyone know where I can get all the expansions ,dlc and the original game in a pack or cheapest? Tried Arma2 free and loving it but quite a few people ruining the game tking etc

PMC isn't worth buying, don't waste your cash on it, just use the free version that comes with the OA patch.

Best experience with arma is joining a group who are organised and tell you what mods to get, nothing beats it in my opinion, so much so I never play public any more it's that good.

Join united operations.

no need to partipate in trainings or set dates. its a pick up and play community with strict mods to get rid of anyone who comes in and messes around in their servers.

most nights theirs over 20 people online and everyone is well organised etc.

the operation arrowhead expansion runs much better than Arma2.
