nope i just boot arma 3 up and use this window

that pops up then look for a server in the multiplayer section... am i doing it all wrong??

Do you have the latest mod client files?
http://epochmod.com/download.php

Open up the .zip and Move the @Epoch folder to the ARMA 3 installation folder, usually;
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3\
