***ArmA 3 Thread***

Dare I say it but the AI in arma2/3 are ****ing hard at the right difficulty. they flank you hard and have got sound aim.

they are ****s!!! :p set to like veteran and they can spot you a mile away, split their forces and move in to surround and flank you!

all while you're wondering where the **** are they?! :p

As promised.

Ummmmmm yeah ok! Doesn't really explain CTI, no idea what it is or its objectives. While a few shots look great.... It doesn't give me the urge to play!

Maybe if you broke it down in to sections and used some of the video to explain what was happening i'd understand!

The fact Melbo is playing it does give me the urge to want to give it ago, as the guy does know a good Arma MP

Easy break down for you Goon:

Team vs Team.

Idea is to capture nodes / objectives on the map.

Each node is connected to at least one other node.

You can only attack and capture a node that is connected to one you already control.

First team to capture all nodes wins.

Weapons, attachments and vehicles are all bought from a shop menu that is only accessible at certain locations - your main base and around the central flag in a node you own, although only limited stuff is available there.

Money is earned through capturing nodes, killing enemy vehicles and enemy players.

More money = more toys ;)

Persistence ?

I need persistence!! I want a reason to come back and work hard? Modders dont seem to understand this key fact, shiny pointless **** and being a boss is what brings people back.

Persistence is not needed in CTI though, when you play it you will see why. Once the points are won the server restarts fresh and everyone is back to square one.

Half the point of these CTI type gamemodes is to start from scratch and gain resources faster than the enemy (by capturing more towns/points than the other team). Whilst not directly comparable, a round of BECTI is essentially just one big arms race. Having persistence would just ruin it.

Down with persistence muck! Any mission with persistence seems to bring in the kids and the scripters so they can have the best gear from the get go. As Witcher mentioned though, CTI doesn't need it. It's all out warfare though. Tanks, helicopters, jets...everything bar the MRLS systems I believe.

Happy to get on it with you sometime and squad up. Could get a few more off here onto it and smash the place up. The free weekend was rather surprising actually. I was expecting the new people who came on to be pretty useless (you know, the Altis Lifers!) but a good handful of them we loving being in a squad that was actually using tactics and were more than happy to follow orders.

Best players are often USA as they communicate a bit better or Germans possibly. Havent played there in a while but unitedoperations is good full tactics server maybe tacticalgamer too

Only thing is that those servers are pretty much Coop only. I can't stand playing against the AI on Arma. Bores me to tears :(

United operations are still mostly play Arma2. they do have a Friday night session on their Arma3 server but it’s mostly Co-op missions.

The AI/suppression mods do make coop more bearable but it's things like calling in CAS runs and rapid helicopter insertions on the fly which the AI just can't do.

Anyone managed to add arma 2 from an old dvd box they have. I guess I should try the arrowhead I got

Not to mention the Arma AI can somehow spot your little toenail miles away and hit it with a pistol while running

ai is silly yea. It cant factor for camoflague at all, it sees you in a field whatever and the accuracy is enough that you are probably dead soon after. Anyone running a server should set the AI to have awful aim to make up for them having perfect vision almost always

Hi guys,

I'm after a little advice if i may from anyone running a server, I've just got one myself but i'm a little confused as how to get my mods running on it.

Any help would be fantastic.

Pretty much the same way as you do it for clients:
1. Extract the mod into the main server directory
2. Add -mod=@yourmod to the exe shortcut/bat file/whatever you use to start the server

Screenie of our arma 3 server running 'Arma server monitor' (side note, really nifty little tool, worth getting!):
