***ArmA 3 Thread***

Iron Front was awful in A2, one of the buggiest lamest standalones ever, to the point I wouldn't play this as a free mod.

Invasion '44 however was 10x the game iron front was and free, still is. I dream of the day I can play I44 in arma 3

Me and a mate recently purchased ARMA 3, so got a few questions.

Is there a performance guide, my machine seems to really take a hit with this game, so want to know which settings I can low for a performance increase without making the game look too much like ARMA 2 :p.

Next question is what kind of mods are worth looking in, at the moment we're playing ARMA 2 DayZ Epoch, but always looking for something different to try.
We were actually playing plain ARMA 2 last night for the 1st time, was on a server where it was players vs the AI, given objectives to take turns, earn ranks by killing AI, new ranks = more weapon/vehicle options. Gotta say it was pretty fun until a hacker started spawning in trains and dropping them on people.
So yeah, more of that kind of thing.

Easily the best mission out at the minute. We had a semi-private event on one of the servers on the weekend and it was damn good fun. 60 players, all knowing what they are doing and working together. Beats the hell out of the normal public play. Should be setting more up very soon so I will let you know on here when they will be.

Also looking at getting some mods going for the events too. TFR will probably be the first one to go in then we hopefully will be looking at using A3MP for some "new" terrains to fight on.

Yep CPU certainly helps, I noticed maxing most of the settings is good as well if you have a nice GPU as it takes more load off the CPU, things like scaling hurt fps a lot though. 780 can just about do 150% with 8xAA. Really helps in ARMA not to have any jaggies and have as clean an image as possible for spotting enemies at distance.

Really want to try this game on a 4k monitor but will have to wait till 4k performance doesn't require a small bank loan to run well.
