***ArmA 3 Thread***

I have this...but have always been to scared to play it !

Love sims , so should by right up my alley...it seems pretty daunting but really want to get into it.

Any tips on how to start ? Multiplayer , missions etc ? I could see it being my favourite game if i could just get over the starting hump.

Play the offline showcases to get yourself comfortable with things first (guessing you've not played Arma before then?).

There are some multiplayer servers (Ahoyworld) that you can join to try player vs ai missions but you don't want to jump straight in to multiplayer if you've got no experience of the game at all.

It's not a steep curve to learn the game but Arma isn't an FPS like COD.

Have been busy lately, but have a massive urge to get stuck into Arma more. If anyone would like an extra player or something?

Have a mic ect.

I play on the EU 3 HC KOTH server, more than welcome to team up. We arent campers though, more run and gun type of players.

Having not played this in ~10 months I decided to reinstall yesterday.

I've really struggled to enjoy A3 on anything close to the level I did (and still do) A2 - now it seems there are so many mods available and the game has had some time to 'mature' I thought I'd give it another crack.

Had a quick session on EUTW - the performance was great and I really like the core gameplay; unfortunately I'd forgotten how much I dislike the vanilla weapon sounds and the general audio mix in A3

Agreed. The sound is getting better though.

The only decent modded PvP server is TacBF but they have some horrendous performance issues. With the release of ACE 3 they may get better hopefully.

Been playing Invade and Annex on ahoy servers lately when am bored in-between other games, FPS isn't great although it is 60man. EUTW is pretty good too but I find it hard to get a spot during peak time and would rather use my time playing rather than queuing.

Wish the mods for this game weren't so large in terms of file size either -.-

I have used ace in the past, but it doesn't do anything much for the AI. The group I play in use kai, which is a full conversion mod for the AI, plus some other features which concern AI in a general way.
The effects ace gives are very good, but luckily these are all available from other sources, which we use. Can't use ace with kai, unless they tell us we can at some stage, in which case we'll possibly use it again sometime. Until then its not worth sacrificing the exceptional AI that we have now.

KAI is not available for Arma 3 yet. So I suppose ace will be a plus if your playing the game, well certainly it is a plus, its a very good mod generally. Wouldn't temp me back to arma 3 though.
Although.. If kai hits arma 3 at some point, our group will probably return to 3.
