Had a go last night. Seems like a solid improvement over Arma2 but I wish there was a way to rest weaponry on terrain. Not sure if this is possible with bipod attachments though?
The recoil is blatantly not tweaked yet as it's way too over the top I think. A.I. seems to be quite a bit better than Arma2 but early days and hard to tell until some solid play time has been had. Graphics and sound are the most impressive features for me.
It still ultimately plays like Operation Flashpoint from 2001 but that's not a bad thing. Just goes to show how ahead of the time the original OFP was. So much has basically never changed (such as basic controls, radio system, various elements of interface).
I still can't ID in Arma 2 without my wasteland dots over heads!...
You probably won't like the suggestion Melbo/TooTall Was reading on the RPS comments page and it was suggested there should be a small icon to show which stance you are currently using. Argument was basically in 1st person it's pretty much impossible to know what stance you are in but in real life your sensory/peripheral vision would allow you to know.

Recoil seems very realistic to me, hit the dirt or adopt lower, more supported fire positions.
Stuck a pretty good mission on, there's 10 control points that you have to attack in order as OpFor while BluFor have to to defend. Stuck it on mercenary difficulty so 1st person only. Just take the time to look before shooting, it's not hard to ID who is who.
And, for that reason, I'm out...
If you guys are going to stick to first party view only, then I'm afraid I won't be gaming with you guys much, if any..
I know you all appreciate the fact that it is a sim, but I enjoy using third party for many things, other than looking around a corner, just don't like first party all the time..

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the Arma 3 Alpha didn't have multiplayer? How come you're all playing on wasteland servers with Arma 3 or am I misinterperating? Also do you know if the 500 supporters editions have been sold?
Same I like 3rd person for certain things.
That's cos you're sh...
Lol
No no no no no!
Hi all. i wont be able to purchase this game until i am back at home so i have a few questions about this for people who have played it:
- How is the controls and movement? similar to Arma 2 or more Battlefieldish ie more fluid and responsive?
Thanks in advance
Me too hard to know what stance your in without 3rd person plus driving in 3rd person is a lot easier.
Whats the key for 3rd person view.
I got this running on a 4870, should work till I get something better
Animations are way more fluid, you can enter buildings no problem and it seems like CQC will be much more fun this time around.
Still getting used to the recoil and the stance system they have added. So that is a little clunky but yes overall movement around the map is fluid.
All I mean is last night everyone on Opfor/Blufor looked the same colour tome. I don't want big floating "HERE THEY ARE!" tags or anything. Different(more) uniforms would help
I don't like being Friendly Fired and I don't like friendly firing others
