** Arma II - tweaking & troubleshooting thread **

Used the leaked catalyst drivers and I can run it on very high on
Powercolor ATI HD4850 1gb
AMD 7850 Dual core 2.8ghz Black edition @ 3.1ghz
and 4gb 800mhz ram.

Changed everything in advanced to very high and it worked smooth for me no mouse lag or anything

but for the demand this game produces I thought the graphics could bebetter.

With my spec in my sig I can't run it on very high. Most are on high or medium but I know I should get better gains. I have Catalyst 9.6. Any ideas? Tried the -winxp and a few other fixes and they have improved, but its not satisfactory.
 
Anyone heard of doing this:

"If you got to the cfg and change the 3d perfomance from default to 160000 it will bump your fps from 30 to 60 or 70" - from a user on the BIS forums.

Is that safe to do and does it work?
 
I'm getting 20-30 FPS, no matter what my settings are. Have tried lots of things suggested in this thread, but none of them have helped as of yet.

Anybody else getting similar performance issues?
 
i got the game today and haven't tweaked anything because not sure where to start and i am getting around 15-20 fps, its no slide show but it would be good to get more out.

current rig is AMD 64 X2 6000, 8800gtx, 4g's of ram on vista 64, using latest nvid drivers, turned v-sync off from nvid control panel. ingame video mem setting is at default, i have also tunred most settings to normal or high.

anyone got tips to improve this bad boy, thanks in advance guys
 
right got my new rig and it playes worse now xP it stutters on the into vid thingy, a bti stuttery ingam tho its saying its getting high fps.... and also like a second input lag... very annoying indeed :(

Just re-installed this last night.

Can anyone advise on which patches I need to install?

EDIT - Ignore, I've been on the Arma site and downloaded Patch 1.04, pretty neat that it patches all the way through from the first game release in one go.

Don't forget all the addons available from Armaholic.
I use VopSound 2.1, LandTex and add_helos plus a special addon pack which my clan uses.
 
I can't recommend using the betas enough. It's a slick install (leaves the proper version untouched), the latest beta has added much better object view distance and Freetrack support and you don't have to use to the disk! :D

Some features I can think of: FLIR, flashlights
Content: SCAR weapons, Apache Longbow (wooo!)

And some other engine changes I think. I'm guessing it's going to be a bit like Warhead following on from Crysis.
 
Well I've just ordered this, after playing ARMA for quite some time now, and my new PC should run it with no issues, certainly plays the demo fine maxed out :D

Are there many servers that support the use of mods etc about now?

DOH! my main game i play and there's mods out for it where do i find these then,are they any good i only really play on berzerk server can they run on there?
