ARMA2 & OFP2 who else cant wait

For me, OFP - Dragon Rising is essentially a new Franchise. Sure, it retains a name but other than that:

New Developer
New Engine

That to me equals a new game.

Also, the engine seems to be entering new ground too (Yes I know it is a modified version but still)

Games using the EGO Engine
ARMA 2 is building upon a VERY solid base.

How many people will just buy both. Im betting atleast 90%. lol

Probably but I will definitely be triple checking ArmA2 before buying it after the complete mess of a shambles ArmA was in every respect. If I even catch wiff of those same clunky animations, those same weird AI behaviours, those horrible sound effects (voices and weapons) etc I am hitting the abort button on that.

opfp is more about bots I think which I dont care about. Whichever game has the highest multiplayer count is what Im going for, maybe one of them will rival the five year old game, bf2 with its 64 players.

I actually think both of them will fail to better bf2 (for netcode) but might be interesting to see so i'll only buy one

I also put a load of arma 2 screenshots in the ss thread so check it out

I can see the reasoning behind that but I'm actually looking at the games from a completely opposite angle. I care more about the single player campaign and the fanbase/user created missions that will surely follow. I've never really been interested in any online MP apart from a few years ago when I was into Day of Defeat in a huge way, so SP will suffice for me.

Codies made a massive mistake in trying to shaft BIS. Flashpoint 2 is most likely to be a massive failure in comparison to the origin joint effort. ARMA2, should we way better and still have all the goodness of what they hit the scene with.

OFP2 looks like it has 'proper' fps aiming which to me is much better. I really loved the original OFP and ARMA but to this day I still dislike the way you aim in them. It made them feel sluggish.

If your talking to the floating zone that can be turned off in the options menu to give a classic aim-where-you-look FPS feel.

aiming a gun properly should feel sluggish compared to playing doom. These games arent aiming to be fps in that way

If you could get hold of a deactivated gun or whatever and hold it out to aim it, it is pretty heavy. Add in things like recoil especially on 30 cal and it should be harder to aim on auto definitely
Even a handgun is like holding a couple of bags of sugar at arms length, accuracy isnt a given

Personally I dislike how fps can be mostly about ping and how fast your frame rate is, thats a great game but cs showed how much gameplay can improve dramatically with greater considerations
