ARMA2 & OFP2 who else cant wait

Bought the German version yesterday, and I'm quite pleased.

It has the English voice-overs, but the subtitles are in German and I've switched them off.

As for the game itself: I've played the first of several tutorials and had a sneak look into the campaign, and I'm well pleased. The last part of the first tutorial is incredibly engrossing and fun.

Possibly one problem occurred once or twice: the movement keys suddenly didn't seem to respond any more and I had to restart. But that was possibly due to me pressing some keys somewhere to see what they do, and then not being able to revert it correctly, so it might just have been me.

I could niggle a bit more about clipping issues now and then, but that would be just nit-picking, considering the overall fantastic impression I have of the whole thing.

If you could give a rundown of the system you are using, windows, spec and the performance you are getting that would be great.

Im trying to gauge what exactly I should upgrade, although at the moment I'm thinking screw it and getting CPU, memory and Gfx... but then I'm thinking im going to be left with CPU/mem/GFX with no home to go to.. so I might as well buy mobo/PSU/mem/CPU/Gfx and transplant the innards to the family machine. Damn upgrading!

Sorry, I forgot.

Windows Vista 32-bit.
Intel 2.4 Quad Core,3 G RAM
NVidea 9800 at medium res with settings set to just under max, but I've still got gto play around with it. Absolutely smooth.

One thing though: From what I've gathered around the board here, my rig runs smoothly where more powerful machines seem to have difficulties. Don't know why that is, but I'm not going to ask questions. So please don't take my specs as an generally valid.

As for my thoughts: Even better than I anticipated, but I have to be cautious considering the small amount of time I've had with it. But until now I think it could hardly be better. I never played ArmA 1, so I can't compare, but I had Operation Flashpoint many years ago, and the atmosphere seems very similar, although this is naturally vastly superior in just about everything from OF1. Dynamic campaign. Yummy.

I'm seriously worried about performance, as that spoilt ARMA for me ....

I mean I was getting real lag problems and I have a Q6600 + 3.4 plus a 8800GTX

thing was the graphics weren't special either

also - felt very clunky - almost unfinished

I've my fingers crossed as its an excellent games series.

As it stands right now the game is broken :-(

The serious sound bugs ( if using surround / 5.1 sound ) totally ruin the game
see the other arma 2 offical thread 2 , for my detailed whine about it

In arma 1 I can tell exactly which direction incoming round are coming from

In arma2 the 3d sound is totally borked ( something coming from 12 oclock sounds like its hiding right behind you !)

Is it me or did the bike riding video just look ridiculous?!?! He was going the same speed as a motorbike up those hills, soldiers must have ripped leg muscles nowadays, even Lance Armstrong would have been passed up a mountain by that bloke!
