ARMA2 & OFP2 who else cant wait

aiming a gun properly should feel sluggish compared to playing doom. These games arent aiming to be fps in that way

I agree with you totally, however to me the game just felt as though it was lagging when I moved around as you have to move the crosshair across the screen a short way before it will acutally move your view.

I'm so used to things like Battlefield 2/2142 that my eyes would actually try and move left or right when the screen didn't if that makes sense?!?

If you could get hold of a deactivated gun or whatever and hold it out to aim it, it is pretty heavy. Add in things like recoil especially on 30 cal and it should be harder to aim on auto definitely
Even a handgun is like holding a couple of bags of sugar at arms length, accuracy isnt a given

Personally I dislike how fps can be mostly about ping and how fast your frame rate is, thats a great game but cs showed how much gameplay can improve dramatically with greater considerations

Actually it depends on the type of gun you are firing. Some can be easily fired with little effort.

I absolutely love the sound of the campaign in Arma2. The fact you can gain intel etc from civilians by speaking to them adds so many levels to it. Playing this co-op is going to be quite something. I can picture situations where you could easily get into arguments with fellow players about what to do / whose info to go with. Plus progress can be saved!

I am actually mildly excited about the MP aspects. I may do a mini upgrade for Arma 2.

Might need a new headset too that I can wear for some time as I sit and wait in the trees with my M82.

omg, i just realised, playing this with some of my clan is going to be a bloodbath!

I can see it now, Player1 asks npc "where are the terrorist scum?"
Just as a reply is coming......
BOOM!
"nevermind"

The game has some "funky audio tech" TM, sorry, cant remember the correct term.

But, if you are hiding in the said tree chatting to your mates, anyone walking under the tree or near it will most likely also hear you depending how loud you are :)

Downloading arma2 from metaboli now, the english patch has been released already aswell, just waiting for them to send me my cd key now.

I am giddy with excitement now.

Its out??
That website you mentioned, how horrible is it? Where's the search ?
Arghh these people who say it's out with no hard info.

edit: Little google play and found it, however I cannot find any info on Arma 2 release in German having any english language packs.

Aye yeah, I just read forums and forums and pages apon pages of people buying the game, yet not one of them mentioning it's german only, nor do any people reply to those asking if it's in english.
No official news on an english patch either so it's probably a lie.

Will wait for uk release!

Probably a good shout to wait for the UK one. Don't have to mess about with possible patches, and you don't play what I expect is essentially a BETA release if ARMA1 was anything to go by.... Although in fairness to BIS I expect they have done a much better job on ARMA2.

Bought the German version yesterday, and I'm quite pleased.

It has the English voice-overs, but the subtitles are in German and I've switched them off.

As for the game itself: I've played the first of several tutorials and had a sneak look into the campaign, and I'm well pleased. The last part of the first tutorial is incredibly engrossing and fun.

Possibly one problem occurred once or twice: the movement keys suddenly didn't seem to respond any more and I had to restart. But that was possibly due to me pressing some keys somewhere to see what they do, and then not being able to revert it correctly, so it might just have been me.

I could niggle a bit more about clipping issues now and then, but that would be just nit-picking, considering the overall fantastic impression I have of the whole thing.
