Just watched the press conference about the poor 9 year old girl who was murdered in her own home - Story here:

"We now believe that around 10pm two men were walking along Kingsheath Avenue from the direction of Finch Lane.

"At that time they were approached by a lone person - potentially a male - who was wearing a black padded jacket, a black balaclava with a peak, dark pants, and black gloves. This individual was approximately 5ft 7ins tall and of slim build, and they were carrying a handgun."

He said this person shot at the two men, causing them to run away.

After hearing gunshots on the street Olivia's mum, Cheryl, opened the door to the family's house. The man being chased then pushed his way into their home.

The gunman followed, putting his hand through a gap and opened fire, shooting blind around the door. Cheryl was shot in the arm and Olivia fatally injured where she stood at the bottom of the stairs. The pair were at home with Olivia's two older siblings at the time.

There were two further shots at the 35-year-old inside the house, hitting him in the body before the attacker made off on foot.

And this comes hot on the heels of a 28 year old innocent victim gunned down in her own home on Sunday

Anyone in the area know what's going on? I assume these are some organised crime/gang issues where innocents are being shot and the police have indicated that there's a culture of silence - not wanting to grass people up to the police.

Is it fear from reprisals? Or is trust in the police particularly low in Liverpool?

Drugs and gangs I suppose, just scum really. Opening the door when you hear gunshots wouldn't have been my first choice.
RIP to the little one :(

Yes, and the mother will live with that decision forever - But gunshots can sound like other things - She might have thought somebody was lobbing fireworks around and gone to see what was happening.

Either way, she's not responsible for somebody with a gun, blind firing around her door.

Worked there for a number of years and gleaned there is a long history of gangs being all over but now secluded to the more derelict areas. However, the work crowd were hardly the type to know any of those characters so not got much knowledge other than stay the **** away. Pretty much shot gun shootings and corderned(?) roads every month when I was there, still.

Poor girl, poor family. Heartbreaking.

And a couple of people on here were just saying how great Liverpool is recently!
Liverpool is an absolutely amazing city! Lovely place. Unfortunately with being a city you get city problems.

I blame Khan.

And Brexit, and Johnson, people like myself, the cost of living, poor recreational facilities and enforced lockdowns disrupting the drug trade on Merseyside, just to save some more stupid posts.

Who or what do you blame for there being no descriptions at all of the perpetrators, the man shot, and the "friends" who picked him up and took him to hospital leaving a mortally wounded child to her fate?

People like you.

It sounds like you think Tony is responsible for all this, somehow.

A city which has gun violence and problems, not exactly surprised.
what is surprising is the amount of incidents involving guns over a short period of time.

Gunman - deserves many bullets themselves.
Guy running - feel for him, but he cant be too innocent here if someone is chasing him with a gun. Cant blame him for choosing to run to place with relative more safety than the streets.
Mother - lives with the worst decision of her life for the rest of her life. Completely unfair.

In my view, the consequences of carrying, supplying or using any form of weapon where if its knives, dusters, guns, tazers etc is not high enough.
Want to be a bad man, want to carry weapons? instead of jail time, force them on to a PUBG based island, and they can go get all their killing fun out their system, one guy survives and guess what, we leave him there for the next run.

Sadly its another example of more and more people disconnecting from society and forming their own smaller social orders i.e. gangs.

They live inside their small echo chambers and begin to think they are God-like and can take someones life.

Yes lets start doing that!

then we send them to an island for themselves and let them fight it out for themselves, then just inject the next round of waste of oxygen scum bags in to their society.
