US: Arrow - Season 3

Nah it's him. Her reaction was "What are you doing here?" And she had a look of shock when she said it.

Plus it's not unlikely for the main villain to have a presence early on in a show. It would keep people who are not in the know guessing and guessing until the eventual reveal.

Glad to see the show back (especially Felicity :3 ) but I did think everything with Sarah was massively rushed.

She just seemed seemed to appear out of nowhere, have a quick chat and then *fwip* *fwip* *fwip* weeeeeeeeeeeeee, dead.

I've always been under the impression that Laurel would taken over, but didn't expect such an abrupt departure from Sarah.

I thought it was a fantastic opening episode :) and Felicity in that dress!

The whole episode was just a rush fest.
When they're in the restaurant, Oliver coming out with "I wasn't always on the island". Just what?

The Sarah bits felt rushed with the I'm back, oh I'm dead. Oliver coming out with that I didn't think was rushed, he admitted in the last season to (IIRC) Diggle. So Oliver is at the point where he is comfortable opening up more about what happened in the 5 years he was away and wants to be more Oliver than Arrow around Felicity. Also Felicity made a comment about what do they have left to talk about so made sense he would admit about his past.

I wont link it as its quite spoliler-ish but check out a youtube channel called Emergency Awesome for a break down of the episode etc.

Just occured to me another bonus of this episode - I don't remember hearing the "My name is Oliver Queen and for 5 years I was trapped on a hellish island...." was getting annoying being at the start of every single episode. Also it means for the first 2 seasons he lied, LIED DAMMIT!!!

I know.

But why on Earth would he randomly splurt that out on his date :p?

Interested to know why you think it is so out of place?

Throughout the series we have been slowly learning things about his past and he has already admitted it to Diggle so wasn't a surprise to us. In the episode Oliver wants to be Oliver to Felicity not just the Arrow and wants to be more honest with her. Felicity points out that they have already talked about everything that they would on a first, second, third date etc.

His 5 year "adventure" was him becoming the arrow.
If you wanted to get away from that, and be oliver, the experience that made him the arrow is surely the wrong topic? That said, that experience also makes him who he is, and who he is, is the arrow. So maybe that's why it was there? He only knows how to be the arrow? But if he's trying to be Oliver, surely he should talk about being Oliver and the person he wants to be? He could talk about where he as a person wants to go from here.

Also, other bits just seemed "off"and rushed. Lance giving his little speech, moments later he's popping pills after a perp with the arrow for a whole of a second.

Interesting that we hold different views on when he was becoming the Arrow which may explain the different view of that scene. I see it as Oliver only became the Arrow once he returned to Starling City. The 5 years and training he received obviously meant that he could become the Arrow but not that he would.

I agree there were other things off about the episode, most could be explained but they were off. Even with all that, still a fantastic opening episode and sets up the season well.

Be careful guys the EA channel reveals who the killer is and it pretty certain as the comic circle been talking about this character for ages

It's a shame really as I really dislike Laurel, think she's a bad actress, she pulls a stupid facial expression really whenever she is saying anything and they've made her character so plainly stupid and irritating, would have preferred a story line that somehow got rid of her and kept the sister in it.

The episode in general felt rushed and the awful cliched story of superhero wants his own life, asks out girl he likes, something bad happens, he insanely links bad thing happening to his attempting to have a real life and breaks up with girl for no reason. Then the double cliche of introducing a new love interest at the same time... I was cringing at how boring, cliched and badly it was done. They rushed through it to set up the season which isn't rare in tv but they could have spread the story out a bit more. Old superman did a quite good Clark Kent impression for his character, tall and built but managed to come walk awkwardly and like Reeve's managed to make his Kent like character not seem particularly strong.

We're almost certain to have a season full of irritating bad dates, snide remarks about them dating from Oliver and general jealousy.

I thought last night's episode was a little underwhelming in places. The fight scene on the bikes was rather tedious. Yet the 3 way fight scene between Oliver, Komodo and Roy was brilliant!

Laurel is showing that she is going to do whatever it takes to find out who killed her sister. Tho I am not happy she (and the Arrow) have not told Quentin about Sara!

The scene in Hong Kong between Oliver and Tommy was rather good. And Ray Palmer...Ray, Ray, Ray! :D
