Arsene Wenger: Arsenal boss to leave club at end of season

How the hell is Arteta even in the lineup to be the next manager? It makes no sense.
It’s actually scary that he’s being considered. If that’s the way we are going then I’d rather have Henry or Viera, both club legends whereas Arteta?? Jumped ship soon as Pep clicked his fingers :/.

I am hoping we don’t appoint Arteta, I’d rather us go for Allegri but his demands may be too much for us from what I have read.

If we where in the Champions League we might of stood a chance with Allegri.

And the money from the Champions League could be spent on player acquisitions.

I can't believe Arsenal fans can't see it coming. It's about who wants little money to spend in the transfer window. The rumoured 50m to spend and the list of underwhelming candidates.

Five years from now when you still haven't got anywhere near the league you will realise what a great job he did to hang onto the coat tails for so long.

I'd be welcoming of Vieira. I'm a bit indifferent to Arteta.

He doesn't come across as someone who would command respect and authority.

Vieira was an Arsenal captain and won the league with us.

Also new players. I'm sure new players Arsenal try to buy would respect Vieira more than Arteta.

Vieira won a lot as a player. Arteta played mostly at Everton and had very little experience playing for Spain.

Also reports Ljungberg has joined as youth team coach and Henry will be offered a role.

Makes the whole Vieira thing sound even more tasty. An all Arsenal coaching set up of all the greats!

We just been Bergkamp back now.

Agreed :)

I saw this man and henry at the stadium of light many years ago. Both very respectable guys. Henry looked up at me when he scored because I was the only one jumping going crazy when he scored the goal in that stand amongst hundreds of sunderland fans. I met wenger as I was leaving and he never said anything but he smiled and knew I was supporting arsenal. I think that was my best day in football history and Henry's goal was the best ever literally. I am very sad to see this man go that is wenger he has been their so long and its going to feel alien to him after retirement when you do something so long it gets programmed into you :).

Does seem increasingly likely it'll be Arteta.

It's also 'cheap' on Arsenal's behalf.

Not the appointment I want, but we've got to give him a chance if he does get the job.

We might as well of kept Wenger if that's the case.

Arteta is ******* useless and shows what the board is made of. At least Kronke's shield is gone now (Wenger) as he's next to go if lack of ambition is shown. Expect riots!

Arteta is not someone I would want but if he gets the job then I’ll back him but I don’t expect us to challenge for any titles or trophies under him. He hasn’t proven himself in the league or any other league. Just because he’s worked under Pep doesn’t mean anything. We have seen what has happened with second in charge managers when they go off to manage their own teams ie Ancelotti’s second in charge Paul Clement who didn’t do too well at Swansea. That’s my issue with Arteta but who knows he may do well but it’s a risk and a massive risk.

But I was hoping we would get a proper world class manager at the very least.

If we do the nostalgic route then it would be Vieira all day for his attitude and what he did for the club. Arteta is just an average ex arsenal player who achieved nothing.
