Arsene Wenger: Arsenal boss to leave club at end of season

Obviously we don't know what's gone on behind the scenes but perhaps Wenger could have kept his job if he had played things differently.

He only had to accept that he was now head coach. Talent spotting was Sven's job and Raul is the director.

He could still coach the team, and Sven would improve the squad with his 'diamond eyes'.

Wenger could still have been in the job for a few more years.

Unless:

A. He refused to have two if not three people telling him what to do.
B. They finally got fed up of Wenger's inability to coach the defence.

I feel somewhat sorry for him. As I'm sure he would have stayed at Arsenal until he retired. It's now as if he has lost the only job he knows how to do.

Arsenals issue hasn't been the squad for years, its been their mental strength. Arsenal are a match for any side on their day but they have far too many off days and struggle when the pressure is on. Thats kind of the managers job to fix that.

Oh boy oh boy, if the rumours are true that it’s going to be Arteta and only a £50mill budget, then god help arsenal because if we start off badly fans are going to be extremely annoyed and angry. Which will mean Arteta getting the sack due to low attendances. But if anyone needs to go, it’s kroenke and Gazidis. Those 2 are what are causing the rot at Arsenal.

£50 mill ain’t gonna buy **** especially as it’s WC year.

Gotta love our board of money grabbing directors and owner. Only interested in lining their pockets.

People where calling for Kronke out but Wenger wasnt perfect either!

If Wenger is so good, how come PSG etc aint queuing up for his signature?

Wenger HAD to go . But so does Kronke

I do not agree. Wenger should have been kept until they had lined up a manger that is much better than him. Is Arteta that person? If we was replacing Wenger with Klopp or Guardiola, I would understand.

If Wenger was given Man City, Barcelona or Real Madrid money, I am sure he would have built us a much better squad. But as it is we have to sell to buy most of the time.

Let’s just hope this Sven guy can spot talent on the cheap for us or we will be sacking managers like Chelsea soon. We can probably forget about top 3 for a long time.

Exactly, it is those two in my opinion. I personally think it was not easy for Wenger to keep his job as long as he did. He was probably under a lot of pressure which did not help.

Probably speaking to Henry as a token gesture lol.

I think we should go after Rafa, he’s done well at Newcastle with their limited budget. At Arsenal he would have a limited budget but with some very good players in the squad that he may very well get the best out of.

Seeing it reported on Twitter that apparently it's a done deal for Arteta to be manager, announcement next Tuesday....huge truck of salt obviously.

Huge gamble going with Arteta, bonkers for a club of Arsenal's stature.

Arsenal fans in here happy with that?

On the face of it it's a huge risk and also not what us fans want.

However from what I read, Arteta is highly regarded as a coach. Pottechino wanted him at Spurs and think of all the people Pep could have asked to be his number 2 he choose Arteta so there must be something about the man.

if Arsenal take Arteta, no disrespect to him but I think 1 season under pep is not going to be enough for him to coach if they want to be challenging for the title, I do fear for Arsenal if they don't get this appointment right.

That being said if the rumours are true about 50 million to spend then they are not going to attract the best

Challenging for the title? Hahahaha.

Where's the whole £50mil to spend thing come from?

It's not enough to start challenging for titles all of a sudden but with new (and hopefully better) coaches, a new structure, and our firepower, it should be enough to at least compete with Liverpool/Spurs/Chelsea for a CL spot which should be our top priority.

Arteta would be a gamble but one I don't think I'd mind taking. He knows the club, he's well liked and well respected, and as opethdisciple said he's supposed to be a pretty coach which fits perfectly into our new structure.

I think it will be a minimum of two seasons before we can even start to think of challenging for the title, and thats assuming the teams above us don't drastically improve all of a sudden.

EDIT: *Pretty good coach, although he does have an amazing head of hair :p
