Arsene Wenger: Arsenal boss to leave club at end of season

I wonder if the new manager will actually be given the keys to that fabled warchest in the summer, or if he'll have to sell to buy.

It's ludicrous to think that Wenger has rebuilt the front line, including two record signings, and still only spent a net £16m the last couple of windows

Just looked at the odds for next manager and the 3 favourites are Tuchel, Loew and Allegri.

Of those, I'd much prefer Allegri. Loew has done well as a national team manager, but club football is completely different while Tuchel hasn't particularly impressed me at Dortmund. Allegri however has done a tremendous job in resurrecting Juventus

Does Allegri even speak English though?

Liverpools is 10 mil net spend per season over 5 years and they are in a far far stronger position then Arsenal are. Its like Arsenal has been patching a sinking ship the last couple of windows.

Will be interesting to see who comes in, I'd be going for Simeone myself, its whether they can attract him or someone of a similar ilk.

It finally happened!

The amount of coverage it's receiving shows what a legend the guy was. It's something I've wanted for a long time but it's weird for him to actually be leaving. I guess it makes sense with the staff changes that the club was entering a new era, and Wenger would not be a part of that.

Hopefully we can win the Europa League for him, he deserves a decent send off.

Im so sad at this news:(, despite knowing it would happen this season or the next, it just feels weird.

All I have known is Arsene Wenger since growing up and supporting Arsenal.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind if we didn't spend an obscene amount over the summer. I'd go as far as saying we could do well with just two signings, namely Jack Butland and David Luiz.

I really like the look of Butland in goal and if (hopefully when) Stoke get relegated he should be available fairly cheaply. He's also young enough that he has plenty of time to improve.
Luiz is a more short-term option but can play at both CB and DM, and provides the experience we need without blocking the progress of Chambers and Holding (not to mention Bielik who I have high hopes for)

Wenger off to PSG in the summer then?

Isn't Carlo anchilotti available? You can take big Sam off us if you want......

Very rare I bet on markets like this (in fact only one I can recall was Benitez to take over at Liverpool due to a tip off on this forum) but can't resist a few cheeky punts on this one. Who are you going with boys? I've taken:

Ancellotti at 15.3/1
Howe at 25/1

Best option would be Simeone but don't believe he would leave Atletico to join Arsenal so not taking the 20/1 on offer.

It was time for a change, in some ways I'm happy that the club can move forward and look beyond Wenger.

I'm also massively sad, Arsene is all I've known for the last 22 years. We should never forget all he has done for the club, the most successful Arsenal manager I'll see in my lifetime, possibly the most successful manager for us ever given the way the game has changed. I hope that fans can get behind him and give him the send off he deserves, the last few seasons may have tarnished his legacy, but we should never forget everything we did for us.

Edit: Tuchel or Enrique for the job I imagine

Pretty much this. As much as i was ready for him to go it'll seem really strange when he has gone.

As much as the guy has kind of lost it over the last few years he has brought us some of the most entertaining football ever and a good haul of trophies.

He deserves an immaculate send off and the highest respect.

Nah I’d go all out for Allegri at Juve, what he has done there is truly immense.

But regardless whoever we get I just hope can inject new ideas and tactics into the squad. Getting rid of the dead wood players and get better ones in if possible.

If you want to be pushing for titles and CL football then you need to be aiming higher then Butland...

Plenty of space below you still to fall into ;)
With Wenger yes but with a new dynamic manager, not really. We have a good squad bar the defence, fix that and we are golden. Also includes getting a world class GK in to replace Cech.

I cant see Wenger walking out on his contact or Arsenal sacking him so don't believe that at all. Was talk of Vieira coming as manager after next season but probably not much in that, considering his complete lack of experience not sure he's the right man.

Haha just one day after saying he'd not walk out! The timing is quite interesting on this one. Might be to get a boost all round the club, especially from the negative fans to get a positive result in Europe and end his career at Arsenal with a European trophy. Also might be to help with getting a new manager in. Apparently Tuchel turned down a contract to manage in the prem. I would love us to go all in for Allegri though, the guy appears to be quite tactical which is something we've been sorely lacking.
