But that is not at all like conversation in question. NF had already established that she was a british citizen and born in the UK...
You seem to be ignoring the fact she was wearing traditional African clothing lol

Hey now I wear Nike trackies doesn't mean you can call me a slavYou seem to be ignoring the fact she was wearing traditional African clothing lol
No, there is nothing wrong with asking, if you haven't established where they are from yet....
You are again using a situation/conversation that is not the same as the one being discussed.

Because wearing Nike trainers give the impression you’re Slavic?Hey now I wear Nike trackies doesn't mean you can call me a slav
This is like pulling teeth...
You're telling me..
She's wearing African clothes, that's the context of the follow up question, it wasn't the woman making some vicious remark; it was related to the fact that the person in question was deliberately appearing to be of African descent. This isn't even very nuanced or hard to understand. It's not like she walked upto Stormzy and and told him he wasn't British.
Just seen this funnily enough lol
Some people think she's racist, others do not.
No, you must be outraged or you're the second coming of Hitler! And some, possibly the majority, couldn't care less, having more pressing concerns.
Then after that, she even asked "“Oh I can see I am going to have a challenge getting you to say where you’re from. When did you first come here?”
SH was quite clearly not accepting that she could be British and was born in the UK.
Lady SH: Where are you from?
Me: Sistah Space.
SH: No, where do you come from?
Me: We're based in Hackney.
SH: No, what part of Africa are you from?
Me: I don't know, they didn't leave any records.
SH: Well, you must know where you're from, I spent time in France. Where are you from?
Me: Here, the UK.
SH: No, but what nationality are you?
Me: I am born here and am British.
SH: No, but where do you really come from, where do your people come from?
Me: 'My people', lady, what is this?
SH: Oh I can see I am going to have a challenge getting you to say where you're from. When did you first come here?
Me: Lady! I am a British national, my parents came here in the 50s when...
SH: Oh, I knew we'd get there in the end, you're Caribbean!
Me: No lady, I am of African heritage, Caribbean descent and British nationality.
SH: Oh so you're from...
You just don't get it do you.
It was fine to ask her where she was from. She did that and got the answer.
The issue is then saying "where do you really come from". It doesn't matter what she is wearing at that point. The implication that she could not actually be from the UK (in spite of her saying so) is there.

This thread has to be bordering if not gone fully overboard withn racism now surely.
And the point that has been made is that although the question was answered, the question can mean different things given the context. Definitely it should have been phrased better to maybe remove the need for context (from what I understand of what was said) but if someone provides you with information, but it was not the information you were trying to find out (which is different to not believing the answer), it seems reasonable to ask again. Again, it really should have been asked better, if not the first time it should have been phrased better in the following questions. It was fine to ask her where she was from. She did that and got the answer.
