ASROCK 6900 XT NOW ONLY £689.99 (£649.99 FOR LOYAL FORUM MEMBERS)

Don't wanna turn this into a processor discussion, but will the 3600 be sufficient for this in 1440p? I'm really tempted to pair the 5800X3D with this 6900xt but I really would be being a bit cheeky spending another £350. But I imagine 6900xt+5800x3d will last years and years... don't want to bottleneck this beauty.

It shouldn't bottleneck it too much I don't think, maybe a few per cent if your lucky :)

You should be fine dude. I mean yeah, a 5800X3D will help but you don't need to do it all now. Save that for a later upgrade.

1440p is much more demanding than 1080p, that is for sure.

SAM should help a fair bit if you have that option in the bios.

Having played with this myself yesterday...

I have a 3950x I have had since launch, a X570-i Strix (ITX) and now a 6700XT. I had to enable PCIE4, as I had been using a 2080Ti so I guess it was default on that. That needed a bios update. SAM? was the easiest, as it has to do with CSM etc which you need for Win 11. I also went from 10 to 11 at the same time I did the upgrades.

Rebar was not showing in the AMD centre, so I used GPUZ to check for that. It was enabled. The only other issue I had was that it had been running at X8 gen 3, even after I enabled PCIE4. Again, the BIOS update fixed that. My board was running a BIOS from a year ago, as that is when I put this one together originally. The GPU I had has died, so I did a refresh. There was a BIOS about 2 months old IIRC. That has fixed it all.

Are you overlooking the fact they haven't been released yet?

Is that why the codes haven't been issued?

Am happy that I heard this thread. When I say to people, I prefer how AMD cards render compared to Nivida and they are like that isn't possible must be a different monitor but now I know why hehe. Also having owned more Nvidia cards than AMD since 1999, I am happy to announce am a pure AMD fanboy these dayss, the 6000 cards are great, esp at 1440p. It really improves the gaming experience. Can't wait for the 7900xtx I will bag one of those on release day

This offer is a great deal, hope loads get sold

Yeah I concur. I run 1440p on both gaming rigs. These cards are monsters. Even the 6700XT I bought is totally kicking all ass at 1440p.

Oddly enough this particular monitor is a 144hz. So it has no problems smashing that. At home I have a 32" panel that is 165hz, and the 6800XT has no problem smashing that.

Mine coming today. What's the best way to install it? not had AMD GPU in so long. I guess use DDU to uninstall Nvidia drivers then take card out and put the 6900xt in then install AMD drivers?
