ASROCK X570 TAICHI - THE RYZEN 3000 MOTHERBOARD GIBBO & 8 PACK RECOMMENDS

So I need to order a CPU I’m using Photoshop and Lightroom primarily.

Do I order a 6 core 3700x and look to overclock and get a better cooling solution or order the 8 core 3800x for a similar price with the stock cooler?

More cores or not?

The 3700X is 8 core 16 threads, same as the 3800X, they just have different clock speeds.
The 3600 and 3600X are 6c/12t.

The 3700X will be fine mate, and for productivity more cores is preferable.

How long does your BIOS take to load? Back on my 7700K it was like 15.6 seconds, on Ryzen 3000 it is around 29 seconds. I also dont have the Fast Boot option in my BIOS, only Ultra Fast which is not ideal.

@8pack Did you have issues with 4 sticks on the Taichi? Cant get it to run well at all using 3466Mhz Bdie just fails to boot if I load XMP profile. I can get 3200mhz to run but own with silly loose timings.

I have 4x8gb 3200cl14 8 pack xtreem which at XMP are 3200 14-14-14-34. I am running them at 3600 and primary timings to 16-16-16-36 - left everything else per XMP and they are good so no issues with 4 sticks here.

I think my issue is going to be my sticks are 16GB so are dual rank. The asrock guide seems to suggest 4 DR modules is a problem:

Did you have to increase any voltages for your settings?

Question for Taichi owners. How are you getting on with the onboard audio? For me, the stock windows drivers automatically switch from speakers to headphones when I plug in my headphones (and also keeps the separate volume for both). But when I install the audio drivers from the AsRock site, Speakers/Headphones are no longer separate and it keeps the same volume for both - the headphone impedance also can't be changed (stuck at over 1000). Anyone else experience the same? I've uninstalled it and gone back to the windows drivers for now

Unless things have changed - I'm on z97 - Realtek has an option to separate them in the audio manager. Though I also seem to remember there being problems with it for me on certain driver versions.....

Anyway, assuming nothing changed, open the Realtek HD audio manager, bottom right of the window there's from right to left, an i, spanner and a gear. Click the gear, then check "Make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously."

Fingers crossed it's the same, or vaguely similar on the Realtek on the taichi.
