ASROCK X570 TAICHI - THE RYZEN 3000 MOTHERBOARD GIBBO & 8 PACK RECOMMENDS

Just went on the live chat of the cheapo Taichi people. Unbelievably unhelpful, definitely trying to get me to cancel my order. Just shrugging their shoulders saying "we have no information", "would you like to cancel your order"?
Might be a stock issue seeing as it's still showing as pre-order even though some have started getting dispatched.

On a lighter note - mine has arrived :) came with a free AsRock mouse mat too...One thing I noticted is the CPU socket has no cover, guessing the cover is an Intel only thing (this is my first AMD build )?

The socket is a socket, not a land grid array (LGA) so it doesn not require a cover. :)

In AMD CPUs the pins are on the actual CPU, on Intel the socket has the pins which is why its protected.

To be honest is the main reason I was interested on Zen 2, to just pop the CPU in and let PCO do its thing while I enjoy the improved performance. But I guess it is the price of being an early adopter :)

The main reason I went for the 3800X is because I am hoping the higher TDP means more OC potential or at least have the potential of running all cores at higher clocks on average. Sadly AMD did not ship samples to anyone so we cant really confirm if that is true. According to Der8auer it is able to, but we will once all the bugs, and problems are ironed out.

Those DerBauer videos weren't too enthusiastic about the headroom for much in the way of overclocking, at least the two that I watched...!

Just got my dispatch email for the 9900k and also the game codes for Dungeon Keeper 2, Just Cause 4 and Total War Three Kingdoms. Those will do nicely :)

Dungeon Keeper 2? As in the Bullfrog game? That should really stress your new CPU!

M.

P.S. It's an absolutely fantastic game and I wouldn't blame anyone for getting it!

Indeed, but if you see my list of games that I bought in the recent Steam sale you would struggle to find a AAA title. I seem to be more Indie these days, EA as well. That 9900k will be smokin'

I'm guessing you guys must have ordered yours really early or something? Ordered mine at about 15:10 and it's still showing Awaiting Pickup :(

I ordered mine before deciding on a CPU, probably just after 2pm. The price was too good to pass up, and I guessed it wouldn't last! Still waiting on my 3700X from here though. :p

Mine was about 2:40. Just called them, not unhelpful just no hard information. Did mention calling back if I wanted to cancel. Quite happy to wait it out, I was prepared for it being it bit difficult. If it wasn't so cheap I'd have ordered from OCUK.
