ASROCK X570 TAICHI - THE RYZEN 3000 MOTHERBOARD GIBBO & 8 PACK RECOMMENDS

TBH I ditched the taichi and went to gigabyte last week, So much better.

Shame as the taichi is a solid board for the most part in stock form. It's the BIOS that lets it down mostly, PBO on mine was just plain broken too.

I really dont know why their PBO implementation is so weak (if you can actually get it to work) despite regular BIOS updates.

Bought the taichi on release new and just purchased the gigabyte last week.

Still have the taichi in the box here, Might sell it with a 3900x I have due to going 5950x.
I see, yeah I also got the Taichi on release. Its been giving me lots of issues now with the BIOS even though I have flashed different versions. The motherboard just doesnt go to sleep and keeps my 3080 or 5700XT (tried both to see) with lights on when Shut Down for no reason. It never did that before, the only way to stop it is to shut down holding the power button. Im about to buy an X570 Unify.

Well i just flashed to 3.91 Beta using the Bios flashback method.
Loaded bios defaults then punched in my settings same as 3.80 and no issues.

Seems perfectly stable to me and I can see I have gained 250 mhz on all cores during Cinebench R23 and gained 1000 points.
Now at 29228 with just neg 15 on all cores with CO so that can probably be improved.

Thanks for the info, can you share the settings you ran in bios for this?

Setting PBO to manual seems to make the most difference.
Setting limits to motherboard unlike some other makes seems to make only a small difference.
I am using 300 for PPT, TDC & EDC.
From previous experience with my 3900X you can use specifically EDC setting to control your temperatures.
Too Hot lower EDC until your comfortable with cpu temps.

With PBO limits set to motherboard my EDC useage shows approx 220A
Set at 300 I have seen it go up to 292A and so far my temps are fine.

These are exactly the same settings as used on previous bios versions but 3.91 definitely gives 1000 more points in R23 for me.

Trying 3.80 with existing 3700X CPU after a CMOS clear too. For the first time in ages it seems to have booted fine with XMP profile (3600MHz 16-16-16-36). Doing some testing at the moment but could be promising...

Cancelled my 5900X order as still no stock in sight and I'll wait for more sensible prices.

Memtest was all fine after 4 passes but I still got some game crashes in the typical sensitive ones like PUBG. I'm guessing some voltage tweaks required?

I seem to be having a few memory problems with this board, with the teamgroup 8 pack 3600mhz 16gb kit. on bios 1.6, if I run the memory at 3600mhz on the xmp profile, even with a 1800 mhz IF I get crashes in games such as fatal error-d3d device removed which freezes the pc and forza horizon 4 just crashes to desktop, no errors. Running the memory at 3200mhz however with the same IF, it never crashes. It's done this over multiple gpu's now, my old gtx 1080 and the new rtx 3070 with all kinds of drivers, using ddu every time. Windows memory test hasn't detected any errors, don't know if memtest 86 would be better or would a bios update help?
