Asrock Z68 Extreme 7

Blimey, reading through that was like riding a rollercoaster! If you'd dropped something on it, surely it would have damaged more than that one pin. If it was a pin at the edge, then perhaps that may be believable but that seems very odd. Hope you get it sorted one way or the other. I remember when I first got the board, myself and a few others had a massive thumbprint on the frame surrounding the socket and I was quite surprised as I thought the whole manufacturing process was a dust free and latex glove job.

mine also had the thumb print on it as well, as I mentioned in my post after I received the motherboard and opened the (other)box(the board still had the plastic cover on it and still inside the 'smaller' box etc) to have a quick look at it.

anyway they asrock have sent me the rma number and the address to send the board to, thing is they want 25euros or £15 cash in an envelope in the box and looking at the prohibited items list on sites such as parcel2go it includes cash.

asked at the post office and they want £35-£40(can't remember exact ammount) and thats untracked and only £46 insured(mb is £200+), the guy behind the counter suggested using a different courier service. parcel2go for example show dhl europlus as £15.20 + vat and to insure £200 is another £7.50 + vat so in total ~£27 inc vat, interparcel.com(anyone here used them?) are ~£3 cheaper.

so to go with insured or uninsured delivery?

looking on dhl website its saying £50 to deliver to netherlands for 3kg, 2kg is £40. so how come its cheaph through p2go etc?

need to check with parcel2go etc regarding the cash in the parcel issue before I can send it off(so monday/tuesday collection), so looking like its going to get to asrock end of next week and with their 5 day turn around it wouldn't be middle/end of the following week they sending me a replacement so looking at getting it back just a few days before christmas.

Why do they want cash? That sounds a bit odd.

Interparcel, Parcel2Go and Parcel Monkey are good, use them on a regular basis, Parcel Monkey more recently but doubt they do a cheap server to the Netherlands. I'd have no problem recommending Parcel2Go.

The reason its cheaper is they are high volume users, so pass on some of the savings back to the customer. Where as DHL direct will be a high profit type setup.

As for posting cash I wouldn't worry about it too much, the board is more valuable and will be covered to the price of new one.

the £15 is to cover the delivery cost from asrock back to me, they say their system doesn't allow any other payments in these sorts of rma.

I'm not worried about posting cash, its the fact that its in the parcel2go and interparcel prohibited items list.

oh and having issue with the post code for asrock with parcel to go, from what I gather from reading the netherlands post code is 4 numbers and 2 letters. in the case of asrock from the address they emailed me it looks like 6604 lv but putting that in the post code on parcel2go keeps giving the error saying that the format does not match that of the post code format for the chosen country(or words to that effect).

hmm just 'spoke' to some one from parcel2go(live chat), the sending the cash is a no no. got suggested contacting the courier directly but as I said looking on dhl and parcelforce sites its like double the price.

Email Asrock to see if a bank transfer is an option if your ok with that?

Can you send me there address? My brother lives in holland ill see if he can send them money directly from there? So all you have to do is ship the board to them?

well the dhl guy has been and collected the parcel, I booked the collection through parcel2go last night for collection today. now to hope there are no issues in the transit and that asrock do indeed send me a replacement(and that the replacement doesn't have any bent/missing pins).

am now £40 or so lighter as it cost ~£27(£18 + £9 for the extra insurance to cover £200) + the £15 that asrock wanted to cover the return postage.

giving into temptation and buying the board on the pre-order price(£210) and really cost me more money and hassle then it's wort, all this shipping costs + testing cost from ocuk is going to end up meaning I pay ~£290 for which I could have bought the asus maximus iv extreme-z or the gigabyte g1 snipper 2.

well asrock guy said they're sending out the replacement today(this was in the email at 2.30pm), so I should have it in my hand before christmas unless something goes wrong.

Good stuff! Did also they let you know that it was not your handling of the board that bent that pin?

No he didn't mention anything along that line, I'll email him back and ask. I guess you're going along the lines of if I can get them tonsay that it'll help with the sales of good act letter to ocuk?

Absolutely. If it does turn out that the board had a manufacturing fault then you shouldn't be out of pocket at all. I'm sure if it did turn out that the original board was DOA then I'm sure OCUK will compensate you. No company is immune from making mistakes!!

Well I have the board back today(the courier had left it at my neighbours) had a look at the socket and it looks to be fine so hope it all works.

it doesn't have an antistatic bag or the plastic that covered it like the one I sent to them, there is rectangle piece of foam instead(will post a pic later to show it).

need to order some tim as the mx-2 I have I think is drying up(feels a bit 'harder' then I remember when I 'syringed' a little out a few weeks back), was meaning to do it last week.
