Assange to go!

So apparently squatting in an embassy for years IS a good way to avoid justice. Shame. I look forward to Assange apologists misrepresenting this in the coming days.

In before they do:

Deputy Director of Public Prosecution Eva-Marie Persson took the decision to "discontinue the investigation regarding Julian Assange", the Swedish Prosecution Authority said.

"The reason for this decision is that the evidence has weakened considerably due to the long period of time that has elapsed since the events in question," it added.

Ms Persson said: "I would like to emphasise that the injured party has submitted a credible and reliable version of events.

"Her statements have been coherent, extensive and detailed; however, my overall assessment is that the evidential situation has been weakened to such an extent that that there is no longer any reason to continue the investigation."

The prosecutors said the decision had been taken after interviews with seven witnesses in the case.

If you actually read what the allegations are it's very dubious that he was charged with rape in the first place - politically motivated for sure. From what I remember, and I haven't re-read it recently, is that two women had sex with him over one weekend and found out about each other, crappy thing to do, sure, but not rape even with Swedish laws.

I don't see him getting released any time soon, he should have been released when his time was served a couple of months back, as they are still planning on sending him to the US to be tortured - I'm not kidding, just look what they did, and still are doing, to Bradley Manning.

His legal team should lodge a new appeal based on this, not sure it'll do any good but it's better than doing nothing.

Lol.

lol... :(

Anything to say?? thought not! You are someone that just reads headlines, like every news outlet wants, and not read into the actual story - I feel sorry for you. At least write something I can disprove. A lonely lol is lazy and stupid given the subject matter, remember that there is a mans life at stake.

You’d better not be calling Chelsea Manning a man, you filthy transphobe!

From what I can remember I thought he was being accused of a crime in Sweden that wasn't a crime here?
He then broke his bail conditions from a U.K. court and legged it to the embassy as he suspected that being lifted by the Met would see him on a plane with no tail number out of RAF Northolt for a spot of enhanced interrogation somewhere deniable.

Well you couldn't remember the exact circumstances and then made up your own version of events...

It's called paraphrasing, it's closer than anything you will read in the mainstream press!

I do try.. ;)

That's exactly it.

He then broke his bail conditions from a U.K.

He has done all the time needed for breaking his bail conditions, he should be released but won't because of the extradition hearings. It doesn't help him that he broke those conditions as he won't get bail again now.
