Assange to go!

And neither can he do anything. All he can do now is sit in an embassy, indefinitely, instead of going to Sweeden to answer some questions.

Ridiculous.
Please...

It's more than just "some questions", if he goes to Sweden the US are going to get him and he is going to disappear.

I'm not one for ridiculous conspiracy theories but this guy releases secrets, do you REALLY think that the charges against him are real?

What makes you say that? I ask again, what evidence do you have that the US are going to make him disappear, given that he had lived relatively openly in the UK for some time before seeking asylum in the UK?

I'm not one for ridiculous conspiracy theories but this guy releases secrets, do you REALLY think that the charges against him are real?

Are you suggesting you don't?

I'm happy to assume innocence, but do you really want to dismiss charges of rape and sexual molestation without due process?

The fact is that it has been incredibly clumsy from the government to threat with breaking diplomatic immunity and the sanctity of the embassy. One can only imagine the amount of pressure to make anyone in the UK government say this.

What makes you think they are not?

If you wanted to get a thief incriminated which would work best. Making up allegations or presenting the thief with an opportunity you know he will take to incriminate himself.

I suspect someone has already got a career ended over that one.

If you read the thread many members have already said that the charges was dropped
only when US leaks came online did a judge reopen the case.

A bulk of people does not make something correct - we only have to look the music charts to determine that. Every single one of those members made the mistake of presuming that the Swedish justice system and ours are the same. They are not. In Sweden charges are made later just before prosecution. The case was re-opened upon review of the person superior a practice they say it quite common. He admits the act himself it is the consent he is disputing or rather the lack of it. Surely that point should be determined properly.

What the hell are you on about?
it went to court and the swedish court(judge) dropped the case...it's not hard...really.

I think you just like arguing for the sake of it.

AFAIK, it has never gotten to the stage of charges being brought, let alone being put in front of a Judge.....all that has happened is that one prosecutor decided to not go ahead with the case, his/her superior overruled that on review (something that is very common in the Swedish legal system) and they wish to speak to Julian Assange in connection with alleged sexual assault allegations.

Read the whole thread and links :)

I've read the timelines of the case, unless the rest of the thread produces a fictitious account of the case, it's going to be a complete waste of my time.

He left Sweeden on the same day the Sweedish authorities claim they notified him of their intention to arrest him. That was weeks before the Wikileaks cable leak. As were the charges themselves. He was ordered detained in absentia 10 days before the cable leak.

Again, how does this fit in with your version of events?

"Julian Assange has been cleared of charges of rape and molestation in Sweden, false charges issued by two women,
one in her 20s and the other in her 30s
Eva Finne, Sweden’s chief prosecutor, Julian Assange was “no longer wanted.”

Where is the link?...where is the mention of the judgement of a Swedish Court Judge?

What charges? there were only allegations that the first prosecutor decided not to pursue. He has not been cleared of anything, becasue he has not been charged with anything or been prosecuted for anything.

Besides this only support exactly what I said happened. A prosecutor decided not to proceed and subsequently she was over-ruled by her superior prosecutor.....it is not that unusual. It doesn't support what you stated that a Swedish Judge cleared him of Sexual Assault in a Court of Law. This is no different from the CPS making a statement that an individual is no longer a suspect, only to subsequently review the allegations and wish to speak to the original suspect....
