Assange to go!

Talking about this the other day, Assange was seen as a good guy right up until he went a bit crazy and OTT and leaked everything and anything..

There are things that should be public record (usually privacy related) and things that should not, crossing that line meant he just opened himself up to the laws of the land and to the point he really can't be easily swept under the carpet.

At this point it's simple, he has an arrest warrant that means whether we or he thinks is wrong or not, that has to be exercised, or what kind of message does it send?

If he wanted more freedom, he should have done a Snowden..

You are aware his alleged crime is not rape

Either way, to your average British prisoner a nonce is a nonce. I'm sure 'Mad Frank' will be happy to listen to a pretty boy like Assange explain the difference between the UK way of classifying sexual offences and the Swedish way and how he's just been set up by the USA anyway.

I hope he is freed soon. I cannot fathom how people still think he is guilty of this.

The fact is the US was annoyed about having their dirty laundry put out and want revenge any way... Any how.

The Britsh "Justice" system should be ashamed but as we know solicitors and those in legal professions have the lowest amount of moral fibre.

From the BBC(they maybe wrong)

"Swedish prosecutors dropped two sex assault claims against Mr Assange last year. However, he still faces the more serious accusation of rape"

I stand corrected. Yes they dropped some sexual molestation offences but the rape claim still stand even though he has not been indited, he has been questioned by both the UK and Sweden but no formal charges

This "no formal charges" thing is a complete red herring. He's not been formally charged because that's not how it works in Sweden.

Isn't Snowden basically under constant control and surveillance by the FSB. Doesn't seem to me like he has much freedom.

He has more freedom, although what are you saying? That he should have total freedom? whether we think some of the information should or should not be in the public domain, he directly and deliberately broke the most sacred of laws of another land and ended up in a country that is an ally of said country and considering that most people think that a lot of countries would just have you bumped off, he's doing rather well..

What kind of freedom do you think he should have?

I am going to guess that he knew the likely way the judgement was going to go before issuing the statement.

How on earth the UN could rule that it was arbitrary detention I have no idea. Since when was hiding in an embassy to escape arrest arbitrary detention? He is choosing to be there rather than follow due process.

The threat of arrest upon leaving is what constitutes arbitrary detention, if left to his own free will he would have left years ago.

Well, at least the UN can be added to the list of clueless leftie halfwits with no idea how the world actually works.

Well if he hadn't betrayed his country then he'd have more freedom than he has now. Most traitors from western countries live to regret their choice once they've defected. One notable case is that bloke who defected to North Korea and led a comfortable life as a film star playing the baddie in every film made by Kim-Jong Il.

Betrayed his country? A traitor?

I applaud the guy for what he did. Governments, Intelligence Services, etc get away with lies, murder and god knows what else to suit their agenda. We will never be privy to any of that if it wasn't for people like this exposing the truth.

I have no issues if you think he's a hero.

Personally I understand why we and most countries have an official secret act, and whilst I do think it's nice to have a little oversight and scrutiny of it, we are in a world where some level of secrecy is required and always has been.

The question is, what truly should be kept secret and what shouldn't, that's not always so sensible for us to decide, history has got us where we are, and personally I'm thankful for the relative state of peace and my generally high levels of freedom in this country.. if that requires some level of 'state secrecy' I'd say we have got it roughly right.

However, I would like a little more oversight at times, something that at least Assange/Snowdon will prompt, but that doesn't make then innocent in my eyes, nor heroic or worthy of being applauded, but that is just my opinion.

I don't see why the UK wasted so much time effort and money and unless it there were ulterior political motives. i.e a nudge from the US.

They would in no way of spent over £12m if it was some random pastry shop owner accused of sexual assault. We should have just payed lip service to the warrant by having a couple of police patrol the area once a day.

There are bigger things to be concerned with in the UK.

Facts on this case that should allow those with the brainpower to realize the truth

Sweden never charged him with the offence but has insisted on doing this in Sweden. Prosecutors dropped any inquiry into rape but it was reopened by Swedish politician who make a remark to someone saying it wasn't rape he said "ah that's because your not a lawyer". Prosecutors had been proven to be acting illegally or at the very least unlawfully.
US wants him dead or in prison.

Assange did not 'flee' Sweden as the BBC (KCNA British branch) keeps spouting rather he left because he wasn't allowed to stay there.

Pity assange doesn't sue the establishment. I would support him!
