Assange to go!

Is that not extradited as things stand or no extradited full stop? Because if it's the former then there could be an extradition request the day after he comes out which the UK then agrees to...
Even if it's not at all to America, I would hope that the first thing Assuage faces upon leaving the embassy is the maximum penalty that the UK can give for breaking bail etc, followed by a swift deportation to Australia where the problem of what to do with him next is theirs ;) (Aus because he was an Aus citizen first, and when he entered he UK).

I agree.

This means that Assange's legal team was lying when they claimed in September that they were still waiting on a no-extradition assurance from the UK.

But we should all be accustomed to that by now.

Well if we go by your favourite source CNN, US DoJ will only unseal its indictment and send the extradition request paperwork once Assange is in custody

"Ecuador's government tried to fool the press when it claimed otherwise in an obvious attempt to provide cover for Assange's expulsion"

At this stage they're merely preparing an indictment. It has yet to be confirmed if there are any charges against him:

WASHINGTON — The Justice Department has prepared an indictment against the WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, marking a drastic escalation of the government’s yearslong battle with him and his anti-secrecy group.

It was not clear if prosecutors have filed charges against Mr. Assange.

Assange must be furious. After all the work he did for Trump, this is what he gets! :p

Anyway, the UK has said they won't extradite, so it's a moot point.

You are becoming more and more unhinged of late Evan. Work for Trump? :D

The UK says a lot of things. If Assange did come out and get extradited, you would shrug your shoulders but never admit you were wrong.

Also Evan, why didn't you let me know you visited just down the road a month or so ago? Would have been good to meet you in person over a Pepsi/Beer (I don't drink btw excepting one or two on holidays).

Assange: 'Obama is going to indict me!'

*doesn't happen*

Assange: 'Hillary is going to indict me!'

*doesn't happen*

Assange: 'I promise to leave the embassy if the UK promises they won't extradite me!'

*UK promises not to extradite Assange*

Assange: 'I refuse to leave the embassy!'

Assange supporters: 'Well at least Trump is in power, Assange is safe now!'

*Trump indicts Assange*

:D

He could probably do a plea deal if it ever came down to it. Mind you if the investigation finishes before he can spill the beans, then he might aswell dig himself a grave now.

No, we haven't. And, in fact, we probably can't. We said we had no current intention to extradite.

In a written response to queries from Ecuador, the UK explained that it had not received any extradition request, and said Assange’s jail time in the UK for violating bail terms by seeking refuge in the embassy would not exceed six months, Iñigo Salvador, who represents the Ecuadorean government in court proceedings, told reporters.

I have no doubt that he would find himself in a dark hole in the US shortly after leaving the embassy, no matter what is officially said.
Nah, the Yanks will let him travel to Ecuador in a heartbeat.

Let him settle down in Quito for a month or so and then have him quietly lifted and interrogated when he thinks he’s safe.
