Assange to go!

.....but his real crime was to have embarrassed the American military and security service

I might try and rob a store at gun point, and then claim no crime was committed - merely that I had embarrassed the shop's security measures.

Then you have the two Swedish women whose details were published on the internet and have had all the usual idiots going after them on Assanges behalf. The thing stinks to me. If you have an army of a few million conspiracy theorists and fellow travellers, it can be useful in deflecting any blame. I note that Australia are not keen to provide any support either.

Im not trying to defend Corbyn and Abbott looking like they support him But it is just against extrandtion to the US as they claim he is a whistle blower, which is why the US have gone for hacker rather than whistle blower.

The problem for him is he continued to be involved in hacking while hiding inside the embassy. So it goes way beyond just whistle blowing. There are also proper channels for whistle blowing.

Ecudor couldn't keep protecting him while he was doing that. Assange seems to think everything should be forgotten but that is never going to happen.

Say what?
Is that it?
What "defence"?
In what way "stupid"?

This is her defence of McKinnon:

Dianne Abbott said:
He had done this massive computer hack, but his real crime was to have embarrassed the American military and security service.

The rea crime was the hack. The fact that he embarrassed the American military and security service is amusing, but to say it was the 'real crime' and imply that McKinnon should be given a free pass on this basis, is utterly absurd.

'Oh yeah, he did break the law, but he shouldn't be punished for that.'

Nothing shoddy about what the US and others have got upto?

Now you're moving the goalposts. I'm referring specifically to Assange's expulsion from the embassy, and subsequent arrest. I don't see anything shonky about it.

I note that Australia are not keen to provide any support either.

Australia has provided Assange with all the support he's entitled to. He's upset because the Australian government isn't prepared to turn a blind eye to his lawbreaking.

Anyway, it's a moot point because Assange has Ecuadorean citizenship, and they're the ones who've kicked him out.

. . .
'Oh yeah, [Gary McKinnon] did break the law, but he shouldn't be punished for that.'
. . .
Presumably Theresa May (then the Tory Home Secretary and now the floundering and utterly incompetent PM) bought into Diane Abbot's analysis.

Still, nobody suggested that Gary McKinnon was a rapist and so far as I know, he didn't skip bail.

Apparently Trump doesn't know anything about Wikileaks :D.

Well he's in a difficult position to say what he really feels now he's President. What is he supposed to say now that Assange is facing charges?

Although I do find the timing convinient that this has come about after the Mueller report is released, and that criminal referrals are coming for those that started the illegal spying operation on Trump. Assange is the only one who really knows who accessed the DNC emails, wouldn't put it past Trump to make a deal with him

Not sure what you're so happy about?

I guess you've decided his guilt already. Along with half a dozen others here.

The same people who would be defending him to the hilt if he was black. Or a woman. Or pledged allegiance to ISIS.

They're literally happy that a journalist who exposed war crimes is being put on trial for a rape he didn't commit following pressure from the US government, this is the left wing of today lmao

They praised him when Assange exposed Bush, and would be praising him right now if he had something on Trump.

That's how pathetic they are

A rape he didn't commit? Let's have due process first.

This is a man who:

* leaked information that exposed the identities of Afghan informants, and then said he didn't care if they were assassinated as a result
* became a political shill
* colluded with the Trump campaign to leak against the opposing candidate while taking care not to expose Trump
* lied repeatedly
* spread fake news and conspiracy theories
* spent 7 years trying to avoid prosecution for a rape case that could have been all over in a few months

So yes, I am happy that he's finally being brought to justice. Assange has done a lot of good, but he went off the rails back in 2014, and his credibility has never recovered. I'd like to know why you support him.

I'm open to the possibility that he's innocent of rape. His guilt concerning the US charge is very clear, even Assange doesn't deny what he's done. The defence is mitigation at best.

The same people who would be defending him to the hilt if he was black. Or a woman. Or pledged allegiance to ISIS.

Not me. I'm not a leftist, and I despise SJWs.

What really tickles me is the fact that the QANON conspiracy theorists believe this is all 'part of the plan', and Assange will be brought to the US so he can drop the mother lode of evidence that will crucify Hillary and Obama.

By contrast, Wikileaks (which knows that this is complete ********) is desperate to keep Assange out of the US, and has publicly complained about the Q followers' determination to see him there!

And that's not the only gripe Wikileaks has with the Q cult...
