Assassins Creed 3: American Revolution

Isn't the 30th just the Steam release date? If not, put the pitch forks away. He may of just grabbed a cheeky version, installed it to steamapps/common and cracked it to play early, with intentions of buying and validating the install when it's released. I'm sure we've all done it. :p

P.S release date is 20th in Yankland and 22nd in EU.

Does this game run better performance wise compared to the previous Assassins creed games?

Only i can remember a fair bit of stuttering when playing 1 and 2.

Yes, oh boy yes. It's running at a constant 60fps for me. Screen tearing is the only issue at the moment. But it is STUNNING! And runs beyond well.

Wish I didn't have to go to work today :(

Ubisoft seem to have adopted THQ tactics with the UK Steam Store Front

Obviously some short term retailer exclusivity deal they want to keep quiet.

Luckily I ordered mine from the rainforest (sorry not sure if OCUK will be stocking this game) and got the Join or Die Edition

This is the game I've been looking forward to all year, I know it got good but not amazing reviews, so as long as its around the AC2 - Brotherhood level i'l be happy.

You are in for a treat mate, the atmosphere in this game is just sublime. I walk most places simply to be around people!

so isit worth buying this for pc then instead of the console?

Well the PC has the following additional features:

Multimonitor and extra wide monitor support for both Eyefinity and nVidia surround.

Tessellation supported

Environment quality (normal, high, very high):
· Increases loading range
· Increases the LOD quality
Texture quality :
· Normal = console quality
· High = full rez textures we had available. Most of the world is 2x the rez, some stuff like animals can be 4 or 16x.
Anti-aliasing quality:
· Normal: FXAA (similar quality to console FXAA we shipped with on 360/PS3)
· High: FXAA with highest possible setting
· Very high: TXAA 4x (or FXAA+MSAA4x on AMD cards)
Shadow quality:
· Normal: console-like shadow map resolution and filtering
· High: 2x shadow map resolution
· Very high:
o 2x shadow map resolution
o new Hexagonal filter (as well as cross-cascade blending)
o Improved Ambient Occlusion algorithm

It will also apparently be released with all bug patches that apply to the PC version before it went to manufacturing.

Combat seems a little easy, but I am only on sequence 2.

It doesn't really get any harder to be honest assuming it's the same on PC as the console. The counter mechanic makes combat a piece of pee. The only times it gets harder is facing up to the larger battles with loads of red coats shooting at you.

Good game though and lots to keep you interested.

greenman are doing it for something like £24.xx, I ordered it along with Hitman yesterday, there was a 30% code on the page for the game, as its listed at £35ish without the discount, not massively cheaper than anywhere else but the cheapest I could find.

I did have the Join or Die pre ordered for £35 but just cancelled that and have gone digital deluxe at GMG for £38.50. Not too bothered by the little trinkets or physical art books and for the extra £3.50 I get the soundtrack, all four of the pre-order DLC missions rather than just one and all five big DLCs which will be released later.
