Assassins Creed Brotherhood PC release dates (UK: March 18th)

Their DRM does not bother me in the slighest its always worked flawlessly for me on the 4 games I own which include it. Its actually one of the best PC DRM systems out there right now along with TAGES (Which EA use on most games now).

What bothers me is this game is just more of the same of AC2 so I will wait around 3 months when it drops to under £13 again like AC2 did last summer. This release is really for PC gamers who are interested but refuse to buy a console to play it early as after AC1 its effectively an inferior copy of the original but less development time so an inferior product is what you get.

AC1=3-4 years dev time & 100's people working on it. Massive semi open game world & excellent for the time gfx. PC also gets DX10.1 & several extras the consoles never got. Then PC gets leaked 2 months early by the duplicator in Feb 2008 so actual sales are very poor.

AC2=1 year & 450 people working on it. Game world is now much smaller than AC1 & in places the gfx look like PS2 level. PC gets DX9 only & little in the way of extra features apart from the new hated by many DRM scheme!

ACB=1 year & a lot less than 450 people working on it. DX9 only again.......

Do that math with regards to how little time they had to improve gameplay

Ubisoft has a much better idea now which is profitable for them and doesn't annoy the customers!.

Basically if you pirate it you can play the game offline without needing to connect to ubisoft however if you want any special items, dlcs then you will have to connect just like before!. So you either buy it get the nifty bonus stuff or don't and get vanilla :)

Mmmmmm to get this or not. I loved AC2 but never completed it. I'm so bored of MMOs atm and feel the online modes in this could be fun. But with IL2 coming out and Crysis 2 I'm not sure.

Brotherhood is much better than AC2. The side missions are more interesting and varied, and there's a lot of positive improvements to the gameplay. The game is basically similar to AC2, but with a year of polish added - and it shows.

May pick this up on the PC when the price drops, but already have it on PS3 so not much point buying it full price.

Aye, it's pathetic. People need to stop being little bitches

You're a pathetic moron.

I refuse to buy games that require constant Internet connection to play them because:

a) I travel frequently
b) I don't want any DRM crap installed on my PC
c) I pay for the damn licence so that I don't have to be restricted by the copyrights owner in playing the damn game
d) Pirates will have a hassle-free experience
e) Cracking the game is illegal and defeats the purpose of the law
f) Publishers will make PC gamers miserable with next-generation DRM crap as soon as you accept the current one
g) The DRM doesn't work and they promised to get rid of it when pirates crack the damn game
h) Of course they don't keep promises

I won't download, I just won't buy or play the game. I don't care what you'll do or if you agree to whatever crap they feed you with, it's your choice. Calling people "little bitches" because they disagree with restrictions that developers/publishers throw upon us is moronic and insulting.

Ive never played this game but have been impressed with the screenshots and reviews Ive read about it. And I can see on this thread thats its popular.

I got a question though - how free-roamer is it? Is it GTAIV-style where you start off with the whole map but some areas are blocked off? Or is it like Fallout 3 where you can jump from rooftop-rootop anywhere causing mayhem. How linear is it etc.

Thanks for any info :)

There are parts of the map that are blocked off until you progress the story. But there are a fair few side missions like courtesan missions, Romulus treasure missions, etc.

If you thought that was repetitive try playing AC1. That was literally one city cut and pasted then renamed a few times :p

I still thought it was good fun.

I briefly played Brotherhood on the ps3 and one thing that bothered me was how easy it was to counter kill masses of enemies, ezio is too much of a one man army for my liking.

@ Katana: The game is linear if the others are anything to go by, but you are playing through a guys memories, so its to be expected. Dont let that put you off though as the world is open and how you go about going from a to b is very much up to you.

How does ACII and ACB run compared to ACI? AC1 is not very good on my computer because I think it uses DX10 but the other two are DX9 so they might perform better.

Can't say I've played Brotherhood but if it's as much of an improvement over AC2 as AC2 was over the dreadful AC1 I'll be buying it.

It's not as big a jump, but it is better. There's a lot more side stuff added, I spent ages and ages hunting all over the city to recruit an entirely female army of assassins. With a nod to Tarantino, I call 'em Fox Force Nine.

I liked the first one in terms of concept, and it had the basics sorted. It just needed a serious going over to turn it from a good game to a great game. Brotherhood mainly expands the game from a number of medium cities to one big one (with the added benefit that you get to know it much better), builds heavily on the collecting / base management & upgrades and adds in a whole set of well designed dungeons.
