Assassin's Creed IV- Black Flag

I'm quite enjoying this so far. Had to lower some settings for my 7950 to hold 60fps. Still relatively high settings though. The consoles seemingly struggle to maintain 30fps so it's clearly a demanding game.

For me it's environment quality that thrashes performance. With that set to low and everything bar aa (set to smaa), god rays (low) and shadows (very high) maxed, fps don't drop below 60. It's surprising how much better things looks with a consistent frame rate. As far as I can tell you only lose a few plants and some grass, which looked pretty crappy anyway as it swayed around in the wind and clipped into everything. Worth a go if you're fighting performance.

Yes, game is pretty much pirates creed 4 lol

I don't think the AC games will ever reach AC 2 or Brotherhood levels again which is disappointing.
This couldn't be more accurate. Whilst I am enjoying the first few hours of the game (I have just got a ship and am upgrading it) the franchise couldn't be more further from the AC games than this.

Don't get me wrong, it feels way better than AC3 but combat still feels all wrong compared to pre-AC3 and I spend a lot of time mashing buttons rather than timing attacks. I am really enjoying the game thus far but it isn't Assassins Creed anymore.

Edit: Running it on a 5ghz i7 with a 2GB 6970 GPU. I have Shadows on high, motion blur off, running at 1080p and there are some frame rate drops in places.

It was very sunny, I went to start a mission. Cutsene plays and it is pouring down and lightning. Then gameplay starts again and it is sunny again!... They have no idea about immersion, or continuity, and the narrative is still all over the place.

Some of this could be forgiven if the gameplay was really good, but it isn't. It has devolved so much from the AC2 trilogy(the so called stealth missions are appalling, and just show how limited ubisoft really are when it comes to gameplay) . The only thing pulling me through this is the awesome world they have created.

Mission to follow someone without being spotted-they are so poorly designed it's not true!... I get killed by the game 4-5 times, but eventually get to the end, and the mission ends with a cutsene where he discovers you anyway:rolleyes: really losing the will here

Loving this game to be honest.. im getting pretty close to the end and the story really does get better as you go along.
I think the graphics are really good... I played crysis 3 again earlier and felt more wowed by the AC4 graphics... maybe its the art design but the waves and plants and details and everything looks really good...at least when you max this out anyway. I also think it looks better with godrays on low than on high. Its just too bright and unnatural for me on high.
I agree about the follow somone missions though...those are the only annoying ones for me.

It is without doubt my single biggest hatred in gaming. And it has now become a staple of ubisoft games .. No way im getting the next splinter cell or far cry if they continue with it. It is beyond retarded.

That's basically why I never completed the previous one, it became so damn tedious. Just because one lone guy spotted me it was game over? The mission was not to have anyone see me, but that last guy saw me as I was killing him. So what? What difference does that make!

Uninstalled as will this one

Ubisoft always try and restrict you for reasons that make no sense... It keeps telling me to do this without being spotted, when there is no reason for it at all, and then if I am spotted, it is game over, do it again until you do as we tell you:rolleyes:

To ubisoft(and all really, but especially ubi) - I ONLY WANT TO SEE A GAME OVER SCREEN WHEN MY CHARACTER DIES!

:p

If they added the ability to crouch, it would at least make it Splinter Cell.

Give it a few years and Splinter Cell, Assassin's Creed and Far Cry will be the same game!... You already had FC3 with climbing towers to reveal the surrounding area, and the same map as AC. They all feature desynchronisation in some way or another. FC3 and AC both feature the same hide in bushes mechanic. Shimmering items, though at least in Far Cry you could turn it off after a patch. I was thinking this earlier, and there are more!

I am beginning to fear for Watch Dogs.

just completed this. Loved it from start to finish. Funnily enough i thought i would get bored with attacking ships but since you can take on more powerfull ones and upgrade your ship ect it was still fun at the end. Story definitely improves as you progress.
Iv only played the original assassins creed though so to me this felt very new and different and i liked that. Looked gorgeous too and ran fine.
Was nice to play something apart from FPS games to be honest.

Seriously though, sailing the open seas, and attacking ships, pillaging etc is insanely fun!

Those battles against multiple ships in a storm especially!, those rogue waves are scary.
They are starting to get a bit more difficult now too as i haven't really been upgrading my ship much - game even warned me that I should work on ship upgrades before starting a particular mission, doh.
