Assassin's Creed IV- Black Flag

Has anyone tried this on a CrossFire setup yet?

I'm running on my trusty old 6970's (6950's bios modded and oc'd a little, i7 920 3.8Ghz cpu o/c), all settings maxed at 1920x1200 (motion blur and vsync off, EQAAx2) getting about 40-50fps. Runs really well, I'm prolly missing some of the newer DirectX vajazzle though on these cards.

Crysis 3 is nice technically but it never really wowed me. This game has wowed me many times. the scenery.. The sea and waves when your on your ship. The detail in the towns. If you can max it out then it looks gorgeous.
I do wonder though why i get the same fps with 4xmsaa than i do with no aa?

Probably because its CPU bound! i cant run it at 60fps yet my GPU is only at about 70% usage :S

CPU bound on a i5 3570k at 4.7? unless you really need 8 cores for this? I hope not >_< it would make sense with the same FPS and all but i wouldnt have thought my cpu would be holding it back at that speed.

I'm not convinced its using all cores, although to be fair at 4.7 you should be ok. im running a non-k chip so only at stock speeds on my ITX machine downstairs.

Still, i'm enjoying it and i'm not far in at all. The bloke whose ship you use at the start is quite funny and well voice acted, im hoping the story continues to be fun and interesting.

I definitely think it is the best looking game I have seen, and I haven't maxed it!... The detail in the towns is a different level to AC3, and is remarkable for an open world game.

O/T, I wish someone would release an RPG that does settlements as well as the Assassin's Creed games. Imagine Skyrim but with the towns and cities like AC3/4. Massive, with lots of people going about!

Blah blah, desynchronisation etc. The Gameplay is as weak as AC3. I haven't done a decent mission yet, and the narrative is all over the place. Getting fed up tbh.

I am doing something atm... I actually think it is supposed to a stealth mission on the ship:o. I'm sailing like 100 metres away from another ship and nobody on it is seeing me!

So I killed that guy Du Casse, as he was on the large ship, then suddenly lying there is a scene with Edward saying "the ship is ours"... What about the other hundred soldiers just standing around on the ship, and on the shore?!

Gonna hold off on judgement on the modern day bits. It is only early in my game, but I get the impression some kind of twist/reveal is gonna happen, and it might not be awful. The actual bits themselves though are beyond tedious.

The AI being a bit blind at times is annoying.
I've lost count the number of times I killed a guard and left him lying there only for his mate, patrolling 40ft away, to turn around & not notice the body lying on the ground.

Maybe they'll get smarter further into the game as I'm still mucking around in Havana.
Wishful thinking?

It's like they couldn't care less about any kind of narrative, or structure to the game! I just came out of a cutsene with Edward saying 'let me know how you get on' or something, then the objective pops up to follow that person he was talking to, and a few seconds later 'reduce distance to target'... I have no idea why I am following them. There was nothing to indicate it in the cutsene.

There is something very amateurish about this game.... They are lucky I love Assassin's Creed, and the world's they create, be a use everything else is sloppy!

:(

Was thinking about playing it, I enjoyed the first 3 games but not the last. Is this worse than the last then?

Oh God no.. It's much better:) I am really enjoying most of it, I just have some real issues with a lot of the things ubisoft do in their games that almost ruin the experience for me(object highlighting, truly awful stealth missions, ****ing desynchronisation/killed by game). As usual with the AC games the world that they have created is wonderful, and incredibly detailed.

I really hope the missions pick up, and I think they might be about to at the point I am at.

LOTS of naval stuff. It is how you travel from island to island, and there have been quite a few battles so far as well. It is good, but I could see it becoming a chore by the end tbh. I am pretty sure the story hasn't really got going yet for me, it has been pretty dire so far. Nowhere near AC3 bad though!
