Assassin's Creed Syndicate thread.

As seen I loved the game and was left wanting more at the end. Personally, I hope they do another trilogy in this setting with these characters.

Whilst I thought the story was good(certainly a step up from Black Flag, but then it couldn't be much worse!) one thing about it I thought was a bit lacking-

It really lacked emotional impact. I was sure Jacob was going to die at the end(especially when I read that Evie was the protagonist of the dlc set 20 years later), and even though he is a good character I am disappointed that he didn't tbh

I thought this was easily the best AC game. Definitely in terms of gameplay.

Equal best release so far, alongside Blag Flag imo.

Found playing Evie more enjoyable than Jacob - he just seemed a touch arrogant and annoying.

Exactly the same here, I prefered the sneaky approach Evie gave to the run in and stab people which Jacob is about.

Easily one of the best AC's. Even got me to rebuy Black Flag on the PC in the sales. Just doing the JTR dlc atm :)

How's this running at 1440p?

Picked it up on PS4 on release and barely touched it and the visuals were pretty horrid.

I'm running at 1440p on SLI 980ti's and an i7 5930k @ 4.4ghz and it runs pretty well. Maxed out except shadows and MSAA one notch below and always stays between 75-144 fps.

Is it the shadows and MSAA that's the performance killers?

Had to turn them down to get a solid 60fps.

What settings are other 980Ti users using?

Shadows and MSAA seem to be the biggest killer for me in most games lately. I just have FXAA on and at 1440p you're not really missing out not having MSAA on anyway.

Surprised so many people seem to like this, just got done with it and it's genuinely awful. Puzzles of any realistic kind, gone, big cavernous tombs/hidden treasures, gone. Difficult to climb large scale areas, gone. Interesting characters gone, they are all skin deep and randomly get angry at each other for completely standard actions.

Someone robs a bank, kills Templar, that is what assassins do, but somehow it was bad. Ridiculous working with rival gang out of nowhere, shockingly goes bad. Completely un-epic ending, incredibly boring and slow final mission, with no difficulty or complexity followed by a final fight that had no actual difficulty, was 90% scripted and constantly interrupted to make it feel insanely dull.

Then we get into difficulty, there wasn't any, even compared to the other ones. You get loads of things that let you kill everyone, massive healing(though you'll almost never need it), you can hire people everywhere to basically do everything for you if you really wanted.

The modern day bits, the abysmally cheap sometimes the 'modern day' parts are a screen with the assassins creed logo on it with a voice over the top. The most tedious and boring version yet. Absurdly easy to get money, absurdly easy to get and buy every single upgrade. Some of the extra stories, some of the Darwin stuff wasn't only boring, it was rubbish and poorly written.

Unity may have run like crap but it wasn't nearly as dumbed down overall.

It's this constant irritating trend, the map must be bigger, there must be more to collect, but less tombs, less puzzles, less good stories. It's all about size over quality in almost everything now.

Black Flag was great, story was 100 times better, characters were 100 times better, the building an empire was better, combat was better on foot, the sailing was great. Upgrades felt harder to find, most of the important ones being under the ocean rather than "hold E to unlock".

I'm 35% in and really enjoying it. I went ahead and bought the Jack The Ripper DLC last night. My only gripes are that the controls feels rubbish this time. I'm slowly playing AC2 along with it and the controls feels so much more snappy and quicker than Syndicate. I don't know if it's the actual controller but sometimes to drop off a building I have to hit 'B' 2-3 times before the game responds. Bit annoying and happens quite often. The other times the character refuses to climb a simple building until I move him one step left or right before climbing. Again a control issues.

And another thing, I don't know if this is possible in game coding. And I can't see why not .... randomize the NPC faces. All the bad guys look the same! How hard is it to drop some code in there to Random() their faces/hairstyles

Other than that, I'm liking it.

I'm trying to play both 50-50 but seem to lean to Jacob more often. Me being a guy and all that. Identify better with him I suppose :p

Just started playing this tonight. Only played the opening 1hr but it's actually really entertaining.

I currently have a 970 and am waiting for Vega.

People with AMD cards how do game works titles run for you? Happy?

Enjoying this more than Unity so far. The interface is so much better. Graphically stunning again and very smooth on my 1080 Ti. This is my favourite after AC2 and black flag.

Couldn't agree more, assassins 2 and brotherhood were great for hidden tombs and timed puzzles etc, now there's no real thought put into them.

Reviving an old thread but I picked this up recently and have been enjoying it so far. Stunning visuals and the parkour is a lot more manageable. Not so many annoying moments when you character just won't do what you want it to! (Although still happens occasionally)

However there are a few little software niggles. I don't know if it's just me, by when it goes into a cut scene the resolution changes and I get black bars on the sides. Also the loading cog symbol is constantly appearing like it's on loop, even when it shouldn't be doing anything taxing. It's pretty distracting. Also it's a bit poor that you should have to go in and edit some file just to get cloth animation unlock past 30fps lol.
