Assassin's Creed Syndicate thread.

I've certainly sunk a lot of time in since picking it up last week. Really enjoying it in a way unity never clicked for me. Unity was the only one I've not finished as I got bored of it.

Running a 290, only had to back out of MSAA to keep rates around 50+.

What can i expect performance wise on a 970gtx? Is it well optimised? Also has anyone tried using this over steam link as an added non steam game?

Thanks!

45-55fps at 1440p almost maxed with FXAA for me. Practically solid 60fps at 1080p.

4790K&GTX 970@1500mhz

Haven't really played it much TBH, so there might be more demanding scenes I don't know of. Seems ok in London.

Sounds good, my specs in sig but sounds like i wont have any issues then!

What do you all make of this game now its been out for a bit? Not played one through since ac2 but have dabbled in 3 and black flag but never stuck with them!

Done the first bit. Had 3 crashes and had to restart my PC each time.

I do have a soft spot for the AC games, but God I hate the glitchy crap they do. It is such a weak effect.

I'm impressed with the actual game so far. I just hope the usual Ubisoft crap gameplay doesn't resurface at some point. Also I'm finding climbing a bit more fiddly than usual.

To get decent fps I have to have the game looking pretty poor tbh.

had a brief try, first mission is a bit clunky as it throws your right in but cn see it will get better! runs well on a 970 but 1440p costs a fair few frames, but at 1080 its spot on. worried though as the game starts by talking about the rubbish present day fluff

Really like the look of the setting and the map in this game but my past experiences with AC series is putting me off. I felt exactly the same about Black Flag and never got passed about 50% story because of all the repetitive stuff bogging the story down. I would much prefer a more linear game than an 'open world' packed full of nonsense filler and so called achievements.

Is it the usual ubisoft climb tower to reveal section of the map with boring side objectives whilst enemies queue up one by one to die?

suprised there is not more interest in this game the engine looks stunning especially the brick walls floors and streets, the water reflections look amazing. runs really smooth on my system with no crashes getting about 45-60fps in 2k all maxed out and am surprised sli actually works unlike most other releases.

gameplays much the same as all the others some annoying control issues I frequently get stuck on a box as though I want to hide behind it and end up mashing my controller to get by but on the whole love it. major issue for me is she needs a skimpier outfit to wear

I love AC games and I'm glad this one wasn't the bug fest that the last game was, however, it's getting a little boring now.

I did a little of the story, unlocked all the areas and was near max level so the rest of the story was a breeze! I was even taking out high level bad guys while I was still level 3. I miss the buying/expanding businesses etc the older games had, not to mention sending assassins off to far reaching places for missions. It all seems to be too much console game, collecting random pap to make the game last longer, do people really fall for all that?

Yeah it looked great but it was just lacking something. Bringing in the black flag reference was a nice touch. Had a couple of instances of getting stuck, one between a carriage and a wall, and why can't I jump over some benches when I can climb massive buildings.

I'm loving it. Speaking as someone who loved the AC2 trilogy but didn't like 3 or black flag, but thought Unity was a step in the right direction. I think the gameplay is much improved, especially stealth and the missions are much more free-form than 3 and black flag (not hard) which is a massive step forward. The two protagonists are both great and there are some interesting characters. Story seems quite good so far too, and thank god I haven't seen much of the present day nonsense!

My main gripes atm, and they are only small are that I would like a few more gadgets tbh, and I'm not really sold on London. It feels a bit bland which is a real shame.

Also, a personal one- I have been crying out for a game based in London but for me this one is set 50 years too late. Set at the turn of the century and we could have had some of my favourite characters from history, and a bit of a more intersting backdrop too!

BTW, the controls are far too clunky as well. And seem a lot less intuitive than the earlier games. I had an infuriating thing earlier where I executed a kidnapping perfectly, bundled the guy in to a carriage and when I was on the roof fighting off enemies it said press a button to drive it i pressed it, only for the character to jump off and s message saying activity reset appeared:rolleyes:

See I wasn't a big fan of playing the 2 characters, prefer to have just the one, it feels more involved. Same reason GTA V wasn't a winner for me.

And the kidnaps are a nightmare. I've had hostages fall through the floor, i've placed one in a carriage only to then press E to drive it and I sat on the floor and couldn't move, had to fast jump to another area to sort that out.
