Assassin's Creed: Unity

I'll give that a go. I'm desperate for it to work properly as I did a co-op mission the other day, levelled up, got right to the end, and then it kicked me out. I believe it kicked me out for lagging so much.

quad-sli will still crash me straight to desktop if I select 4k resolution. GG Ubisoft.

in 1440p, only 2 GPU's are used and it stutters like a SOB with VSync on - 40-50fps.

Has the draw distance been reduced substantially for anybody else after this update? Even just looking down the roads where there once were people roaming around theres now nothing. :/ Two examples that I've got :

But then in other areas it seems to be as it was pre-patch.

There's some great before and after screenshots of what the patch has done. Lost the link but I'm sure someone will find them. Great job Ubi, you've made the game look like AC2 in those screens.

Was it these ones by any chance?

If it was, these are PS4 screenshots.

Not buying it, It's just Ubisoft covering their tracks, Now they lower the graphical fidelity so the performance is slightly better, Cheap move.

Nah, I haven't seen those. These were outdoor shots of a crowd and some church behind them. Everything was a washed out browny look post patch - kind of resembled AC2 that I'm playing through at present.

Upon reading the assassins creed subreddit on Reddit last night it was stated by folks on Neogaf that the game prepatch is actually ok and the lighting issue is only isolated to that specific area in your screenshots. I still WANT to like this game hence why I read this thread but Ubisoft...they won't change.

Hi guys, just thought I'd give you my views on Unity post patch, although before that it's important you understand my experience before v 1.3.

I have been relatively lucky as my game, at least performance-wise has run okay. Don't get me wrong, I've still had loads of bugs, FR drops, big stutters in certain sections, pop-in and npcs changing gender and clothes before my eyes, but it's never been game-breaking, just annoying. My bigger concerns were actually with the actual gameplay and just how unresponsive and at times broken it was.

With the patch installed I've noticed many differences almost all for the better.

Performance-wise, I've experienced less bugs, less FR-drops - although it still tanks a little in some locations like the interior of Notre Dame - and no stuttering yet. Still a lot of pop-in, but nothing worse than many other open-world games, and I've yet to see anyone change genders or swap outfits as I approach. However the detail of the clothes does still draw-in quite noticeably.

The biggest difference I have experienced though is in the overall gameplay: everything is much more responsive.

Most notably the parkour and general movement has gone from being a sticky, unresponsive, unpredictable mess where Arno did what I wanted about 20% of the time to now flowing more to the point where it's actually flipped to around an 80% success rate and is enjoyable. I'd equate it to Black Flag levels.

Stealth has improved drastically as well, as the broken cover system now actually functions. Not all the time, and there are still parts of the environment where Arno will refuse to stick to, but there seems to be significantly less of these moments and it's much more responsive. Pressing 'A' now consistently works.

Combat is the least improved but is still more responsive to your inputs than before. There is definitely a tiny bit less lag on parrying and a bit more of an improvement on on how quickly Arno will roll, attack and switch out of a combat stance and run away which is useful when trying to avoid bombs.

All-in-all I have to say i'm very impressed with the improvements, and they seem significant enough that they were in no way something Ubi knocked up in a couple of weeks as a response to the outrage - this patch seems to transform the game into what feels to me like what the devs intended the final release to be. I.e. what we got at release was the beta form of the game but rather than wait, the suits decided the game had to be shipped to meet the holiday season date.

Well, I picked this up for $27 from G2a and very very impressed with how it looks. An absolute killer on performance though and I see frames dropping from 80+ to just over 40+ with 3 Titans and a 3930K @ 4.4Ghz - 1440P and Ultra settings. Pretty smooth still and one of the best, if not the best looking games I have played.

What settings do you play with? my sli 970s stutter on full settings even though its around 40-50fps (msaa x4 and all the goodies on ultra high)

a single 970 with no msaa can manage 40fps average
