Assetto Corsa OcUK TT Challenge! *Season 3*

Cheers. Strange things, servers. :)

Edit:
Working fine again now. Whatever you wispered in its ear worked a treat.

That was great fun. Nice setup there Petey but alas, after countless 1:32.x laps I didn't break through into the 1:31's. I think I need to adjust to your higher downforce setup and get braver on the loud pedal out of the corners. :)

Edit:
Just last night I started down-shifting two gears to 4th for the exit of Beckett's having previously come out in a low 5th. I'll revisit my old 1:32.4 setup again sometime and see what times I get with the new approach.

Yes, 4th is the way to go.

Anyhoo, after a lot of arsing around and having to change cars I'd originally picked at the last second due to certain modders not doing what they're supposed to, a new challenge is up!
We're going oldskool and olderskool.

Round 25 - Donington GP >>DOWNLOAD<<

Whether you came first or not, well done to everyone last week. It wasn't an easy challenge, and neither is this week's :)
In case you're wondering, the other two winners are long time driving mates of mine. I'm assured that they'll be along to say hello at some point...

Ooo, Donny. Nice one. (Edit: 1938 Donny? Blimey, this could be interesting.)

Thanks again for another week Petey, and well done everyone last week. It was great seeing other drivers out on track, much better than lapping alone.

Whew. Not tried Donny 1938 yet. Should be a hoot. Ridiculously fast laps in the Williams, not sure where to find another 7 seconds .

Welcome, Dan. Nice to see another lid on the grid.

I found about 5 seconds in the glove box behind an old tin of WD-40. Have you checked there? :D

Edit:
I'm about to do the unthinkable and do my maiden laps on a new circuit in unfamiliar cars... ON THE SERVER.

Flippin' rights I am. :D

Well it was lovely drive in the country anyway.

I'd just started getting the Caterham to wag it's tail, too. Was beginning to feel like Dirt Rally.

@Yadda @Daniel Watkin in case you were curious.

Did it offline yesterday.
Worth noting that I accidentally left damage off last week after the Nords TT. A couple of the downshifts would have caused damage to the FW14 if I hadn't done that, and the time probably wouldn't have been doable by me at least, but it is what it is.

Cheers for posting that Petey. I work in MPH so it's hard to tell exactly without doing the conversions, but I think where you gained on me was coming out of Luffield and possibly Beckett's, and possibly Copse too. Interesting to see your line through Stowe. It's different to mine but we run with different downforce so there's obviously that to consider. I'll find those couple of seconds from somewhere, just not yet. :)

Good stuff.

This should help :)

Great idea. :)

Yes, definitely Luffield and Copse (edit: actually, we seem to exit Luffield more or less together so more like Copse and Magotts & Beckett's which I was exiting in 5th then). I get a bit back on the Hangar straight and Stowe but not enough.

Edit:
It's great watching that back. What a fantastic circuit it is, I really like the new infield section.

I thought I'd post some old onboard footage of a qualifying lap from the 1993 Donington F1 GP (the only year the circuit has hosted the event). It might help give a feel for the circuit.

Onboard with Damon Hill, who qualified in 2nd with a 1:10.7. Fastest lap of the race was by God Senna with a 1:18.02.

(Incidentally, unlike qualy the race was very wet. Senna started in 4th but dropped a place to 5th off the start. He then overtook everyone ahead of him... on the opening lap... in the hissing rain. :D You can see that here).

More info including tables of qualy times and race results here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993_European_Grand_Prix
