Assetto Corsa

I have just bought this game.the graphics are great and the amout of stuff you can do with the car is amazing. But the problem is that im using a xbox 360 controller and the control of the car is SHOCKING.i have used some other peoples contoller config and its no better.it just does not feel right when trying to turn.if i could do something to make it better that would be great

Have you tried tweaking the settings?
One config doesn't suit all cars or driving styles.

For example, the settings I posted earlier are great with certain cars like the P4/5 (for me), but would be way too twitchy with F1 etc.

i played it for another 1 hour and im getting better at it(default contoller settings)
trouble was i was trying to play it like grid autosport and it never worked. so with asseto corsa i have to be ectra carefull when braking and easy on the gas.

Down to a 1:58.0 at the Nurburgring in the Abarth. There's still a little more in me (exploiting the setups more now and been playing with the FFB settings) but I don't think I'm capable of reaching the 56s.

This is it - this is much closer to a simulation (though it's not a pure sim) than the Codemasters arcade games and as such you've got to be much more precise.

I used to play Grand Prix Legends with a joystick (as that's all I had) and despite being quite quick with it, I immediately went 4 tenths quicker with my first wheel.

Still, in a GPL league we had going a few years ago we had a guy who used a joypad to play and he was damn decent - and trust me, GPL is much, much harder to master than Assetto Corsa, so it's possible to get an enormous amount of fun out of Assetto Corsa with a pad, but you've got to try think as you would if you were in a real racing car and not controlling a bunch of pixels.

Borrowed my dad's G25 to see how I got on with a steering wheel after using a 360 gamepad.. knocked 20s off my typical lap times around Silverstone on my first try. I can't go back to a gamepad, but I can't afford a G27 :(

Put in a few hours over the weekend and loving it, exactly what I was looking for since I got myself a gaming pc again!

Playing on with my PS3 pad at the moment and there seems to be a quirk where it's like the accelerate button is going on and off constantly for a few seconds which is massively annoying! Moving house soon and will have space for a wheel, going to have to purchase asap

I bought this in hope the 360 controls would be better than the ones in pCARS, so i hope they're not that bad!:o

Not sure how you're finding it, but I jumped ship from pCars a couple of weeks ago and have just given AC a try in the half price Steam deal.

Fan-flippin-tastic is all I can say. I loved pcars when I first tried it 2 years ago, but since the start of this year (around the time they went to the "day glo" UI) I couldn't help the feeling that it was actually getting worse not better with each update. The recent "improvements" to the xbox controller in pcars was the final straw for me.

That's why I'm so pleased with AC, particularly the driving feel on my xbox360 controller. The way you have to back off the gas when changing gear in the Lotus to avoid slipping the clutch/hitting the limiter, and the feeling of losing the back end if you go a little too fast into a corner are great (and sadly remind me of how pcars used to feel when I first tried it in 2012).

Car mods need to go into steam/steamapps/common/assettocorsa/content/cars, not documents. Just put mod car folder into there, you can check that the inside of the car mod folder looks similar to insides of the default cars. Maybe you putting a folder inside which there is another folder which contains the mod? if you know what I mean ;) Track do not go into cars folder, they go in content/tracks.

Was being an idiot - I totally forgot that my steam dir was on another drive! All works now.

The Driving Force GT is a great wheel which can be had for around £50-£60 2nd hand.

They usually hold their resale value too, so you could use it while saving up for the G27.

how are the other wheels like, e.g.:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GC-004-SL

I had a G25 (twice I think) ages ago with a stand too but never really used it, the cables were too messy, i.e. power pack, then cables between the wheel / stand and then on to USB cables, it was too messy and I didn't use it much so sold it on.

Something nice / simple / wireless would be ideal or I could bear with something not requiring an external power pack

Decent wheels need a power pack to provide the juice for the force feedback motors, etc...

So any wireless wheel you get will be lacking in that area.

Might still be better than a controller though.

I'd only play it for like 15 mins or so at a time, not really much into the sims but mostly the arcade racers

Not fussed about force feedback, don't want the whole table to vibrate away :p

Just bought the game (for cheaper than the sale price on g2play!!!) and I have two small issues with it.

1. The cockpitless cam seems to be too high, as though you are driving a 4x4 vehicle. I think they need to lower it a tad, but not too much so you still get a good view ahead.

2. A on screen map option would be great, I understand they're aiming for realism and such aids would not be available to a real driver but a user defineable option would be nice. I found this a great help in console racing games and meant I didn't have to resort to using the noobish "road arrows" to learn the tracks.

Thats it, terrific game and plays perfectly with the 360 controller...finally a alternative to gran turismo on the PC! I have dreamed of this moment :)

If you run your mouse to the RHS of the screen you'll find all sorts of 'apps' to play with which may help. Not sure about tweaking the cockpitless view as I only ever use full cockpit in sim, but it ought to be possible.

When you're on track put the mouse to the right and there are all Manor of app type things you can add to the screen wherever you wish. Map, revs etc etc

Tried out the F1 mod and can barely see where I'm going to the point I can't drive it, camera is too low down so I can't see over the steering wheel/etc.

Is there any way to raise the camera?

edit: found it in one of the apps :)

Move your mouse to the right hand side of your screen & the in-game apps list will pop up.

One of those apps, thinks its called ' onboard settings ' lets you adjust the camera & position, camera pitch, etc... which you can then save.

Assetto Corsa – Toyota License Announced
Kunos Simulazioni has announced a new licensing deal as Toyota joins their Assetto Corsa simulation.

Assetto Corsa will feature six Toyotas, two of them will be racing cars while four of them will be street machinery. This continues Assetto Corsa’s rather road-car centric approach in terms of car selection as the Toyota’s will join plenty of street machinery from Lotus, Ferrari & other manufacturers.

Production:

Toyota GT-86
Toyota SUPRA MK IV
Toyota CELICA
Toyota AE-86
Racing models:

Toyota GT-86 GT4
Toyota TS040 HYBRID
Furthermore, Kunos Simulazioni has also revealed that the TS040 Hybrid will be the first but not the only LMP1 car to join their title as more prototype racing machinery is on the horizon.
