Assetto Corsa

I've had this on my wish list for a little while and it's just on sale now. Should i bother getting this if i'm playing GT6?
I mean, it looks pretty but there's not many cars or tracks by the looks of it.

Go here and go nuts :)
Plenty of content to keep you entertained.

Here's what I have available fwiw:

You definitely should as you'll find out what the GT6 cars are like to actually drive, each car feels unique and its a joy to discover and learn all its quirks. Plus AI is beyond abysmal in GT6, they are just moving chicanes. If you have a wheel, this game is a must. :)

Mostly very good quality and usually get updated to address any issues. If you don't mind a few 2d trees/spectators, you should be happy enough.
Not having driven any of them in real life, I couldn't comment on how realistic the cars are though :D

Most mods are average to poor, but it is made up by a few that are absolutely top notch in every single way (graphics, sound, and physics of course). Eg Lamborghini Miura.

But today it is all bout that Porsche, I cant even think about the rest. I've beaten 100% AI F40 at Mugello with it, will try Imola tomorrow or day after. What a car!

Probably get hated on but, before I buy this game are there any options to make it more arcade like than sim? By that I mean I don't have to fiddle with setups and things? I can just pick my car and go race?

Don't worry, it's not the hardcore sim that some are. It's close, and gives a good impression of being one, but it's not quite got that edge to it, so you won't be ridiculed. :)

There's plenty of aids such as stability control, traction control and ABS for a more pick up and play option, but it's never going to be an arcade game like Gran Turismo or the Codies F1 series.

If it's just the setups themselves which are an issue the out-of-the-box ones are perfectly fine. Not the fastest if you're intending to race online against the better drivers though.

Chuck the stability control on and it's very forgiving whilst still feeling like a Sim. Was driving the RUF with it set to 50% and it was pretty effortless holding drifts around any and all corners on it (granted with a wheel) - it still felt like I was in control of the car, I kinda imagine this is how it feels to drive something like a Nissan GTR where it flatters you :) I reckon with some aids on it's no more tricky to drive than Gran Turismo / Forza.

In other news, did an online race yesterday. Server only had F40s and Yellowbirds. Spent 6 laps of Spa in 3rd with my F40 trailing a pair of 'birds. Immense fun watching them dice for the lead, making mistakes and occasionally drifting around corners. Was really intense - going to have to do some more later :D

What the hell is wrong with this game? I have 3570k at 4ghz and GTX 970 and it runs very badly and the graphics are awful.

I have set all settings to max, but everything looks grainy. It's also a slideshow.

My pc has no problem running other games maxed out and they look stunning, so I know it's not the pc.

Reads like user error to me, have a poke around with your settings.

Should be running nice with your setup :p something is wrong somewhere :)

Try verifying the game install too.

More info needed really, it should be running absolutely fine with the correct settings on the specs you've listed.

I'm near enough maxed out at 1080p on a 760 and 3570. I'd make sure your drivers are correct for your GPU, and that you don't have any conflicting if you had AMD before.

What graphics settings is everyone using for best bling/frame performance? I have xfire 290s and with most of it maxed out I get about 50fps at Spa, but with 20 cars on track it occasionally drops horrendously. And mine doesn't look as good as those screenshots!

I just bought a G27 (£150 I figured it'll be worth it) so planning to get really stuck into this.

I have to say i'm disappointed with the final content of AC. To put it politely it's lacking...the whole build up to the announcement just made it more of a disappointment.

I have 30+ hours in AC now and it doesn't compare to pCars in most areas for me. It has better force feedback and more popular online servers, but these will be moot points once pCars is actually finished IMO.

I guess it's nice that I have both. They are easy to jump between and not feel out of touch with the physics. And the AC drifting and modding community is brilliant. But the stock game leaves a lot to be desired. Where as pCars has brilliant content already.

Shouldn't complain though, it's a great time to be involved in PC racing sims again.

- to the poster above, I am running it maxed out at 1080p and getting 40-50fps.

Where do you feel it's really lacking? They're adding more cars and tracks to keep the content coming, the driving physics are spot on and there is multiplayer. I can't think of anything it's really missing at the moment.

Can't wait for the Lambos :D

I think they each have their good points. I like the handling of the road cars in AC a bit more, and pCARS has a nicer feel in the menus, looks better imo too.

I wonder why I'm getting the same frames at 1440p with 2 290s at full chat.
