Assetto Corsa

Has anyone tried the tourist configuration online yet? It's so much fun just like a track day, my only gripe is that everyone seems to be limiting the cars you can choose on the server. Is this a limitation of the server or what? Surely you could just make every car available.

AC's server system is a bit messed up. You need to know all the cars before the practice session can start, so for pickup races the server operator has to decide which cars are available. If you've got 24 pit slots and 24 car choices then only the first person wishing to drive a particular car can, he who gets in first. The only way to allow you to choose the car is to run the server with a booking period, then each registers their car choice during booking and the full car list is known for the start of the 1st session. Never tried creating a server with all cars available, hopefully AC have tried it!

I have the srw-wheel and I use the accel paddle for accel, but I use shifter paddle as brake. But I cant assign the shifter paddle as brake because its a digital button. So is there anyway of getting around this problem? thanks

Could be tempted no idea how to though. The way they've made the servers run sounds abit daft it wouldn't be hard to make it like Live for speed surely, it was brilliantly easy on there.

I think Live for Speed was so great where you could just race. No need to qualify, random grid postition and great close racing with great netcode.

It's pretty easy really, though the GUI for setting it up isn't particularly friendly. The hardest part is setting up the port forwarding on your router.

I'm on my mobile so not too easy to explain how to set it up. Our gaming group only use our own hosted servers (5 - 6 of us)

I've got Fanatec Clubsport kit sat gathering dust, hardly used them.

Is the SP of this now up to scratch or is the AI still awful?

The AI's not still awful, but it is certainly not good either.

They're still slow in certain corners & don't really pass you that often, unless they have around a 1/2 mile of straight road ahead.

If you set the strength high enough you can have some decent races, but it's still not up to rF2, GSC 2013 or even RaceRoom standards of SP AI.

The AI is significantly better now, have a look at how it comes back in these couple of corners, we'd never see this kind of thing in 1.05 version. (AI lost it in eau rouge as it had damaged rear aero)

set up a server

running on pretty low end server . wanna stress test it really ... handles 3 as its most ive seen use it. could do with some feedback.

What are you running it on? I was thinking about trying to run one on my old netbook that I never use but having read that guide it says 16 cars is too much for an i7! I doubt the netbook could even handle 1.

Amd 5150
8gb 1333

It's also running my FTP, web server & TS3 so its being pushed a fairbit :D for what it is . traffic isn't massive ( 25 TS clients avg a day , 4 or 5 FTP connections a day and 1 or two hits to my site a day ) so we will see what this baby can take befor it says no more .

with three of us on there , it diddnt miss a beat so if I can host a 10 man server I'll be happy ( cureenty set at 15 )

Fair enough might give it a try later on.

I've hosted 12 or 13 drivers on a lowly quad core 2.4Ghz Intel X3220 with 4GB of RAM which was probably running 2x GTR2 servers and a GTL server at the same time (not sure anyone was connected to them though) It also runs a TS3 server.

I could probably host a server for you guys, got an i7 with 16 GB of RAM and a shiny 500 GB SSD. It's currently running FTP, Minecraft, TS3, Mumble and Plex but has plenty of resources spare :D
