Assetto Corsa

This game is sweet. Although, I have had huge issues in getting it running. Finally found a fix, which is to run Steam and Assetto Corsa in Administration mode, and to turn off PP, then it seems to work.

Would love the PP, but at this stage of my skills, a few nice shiny visuals will do little for my laptimes. :S

Time to put some hours in I fear, just so I can hold my simming head back up again :D

Xfire users, here's a fix for those of you that like to use onscreen apps without them breaking xfire:

Make a CCC profile targeting acs.exe and use the 'BFBC2Game' xfire profile.

You may find that certain combinaions of reflection settings can result in flickering. In my brief testing, I found that High/High and High/Low worked perfectly. (Ultra isn't worth it IMO)
You'll see usage anywhere from 55-99%, but the important thing is that using apps no longer screws it all up :)

How do you find AC runs on your 290's

I currently have one 290 Tri-X & as I run triple screens I'm either going to add another 290, or switch to a clocked 980 to save any xfire hassles.

I was happily running it on a single card at stock clocks tbh and it's great. All settings at max, with reflections at medium.
Since I do all my racing on a 40" TV, I'm only rocking 1080p, so xfire isn't really needed for me at the moment - even when using VSR @1440p (3200x1800 makes everything too small to read lol).

I couldn't comment on triple screen, but if the xfire workaround works as well on a setup like that, then you should be pretty happy with it. I imagine it may even work better with higher resolutions, since I recall doing some testing a while back using supersampling in Radeon Pro, which got more GPU usage the higher I went.

Having driven over 100 laps at the ring in real life I have to say the AC reproduction is excellent. Spent a few hours on it this afternoon.
.

Nice post, thanks for sharing!

PS Most of mod cars, fixed for the 1.1 version, here: http://assettocorsa.club/mods/auto/

It's not in English, but it is well organised and you only need to click on the pic of the car that interests you and then scroll down to mediafire link.

I'd like to try the NSX mod, might give that a wurl.

I've not driven many of the AC cars for real other than a few lotus, X-bow and M3 but have to say not sure they're too faithful.

I think I need to play with my Fanatec wheel some more!

Was thinking of getting a cheap wheel for this im only talking like a Logitech Driving Force GT second hand :p there are a few on the bay for around £50 is it worth it ?

I am currently using a xbox one pad so surely it will be better experience than that?

NSX mod is in beta, you need to divide all its toe values by 2 in car settings. Good mod though!

As for the comparison, make sure you play around with track grip setting (Kunos say that street tires, "Old" or "Green" track surface and 15C temp is realistic if you aim to replicate Nurb times/driving style).

Here is impression from a former racing driver who owns a Lotus 2-11 irl. http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/lotus-2-eleven-assetto-corsa-vs-real-life.2652/

A decent wheel like the DFGT will transform the game, it'll be a completely new experience. Go for it! :)

I have quite a bit of real world exp' with an international race license and a number of cars to my name, at peak I had 12 cars in my garage. :)

The NSX is one of those cars that has always interested me, great piece of engineering for it's time.

In fairness my seat isn't appropriate for sim racing, that doesn't help one bit. I also haven't setup the Fanatec as well as I could, I'm sure.

I have been and looked at a pod (TL1) but it's rather extravagant, especially for someone like me who jumps on a sim when bored or have free time.

Anyway I digress. It was 3 months between dusting off my wheel and playing Assetto previously - I should make more time to enjoy it!

Thanks for the info. I'll have to skip xfire & stick to a single card though as I forgot I'll have to run windowed mode (I run 2 1280x1024 monitors at either side of my main 1920x1080 monitor )

I am now convinced these games need a wheel. I broke my G27 over a year ago, never bothered replacing and played my racing games with the xbone controller. Got a promotion recently so with a bit of spare cash I decided to get the thrustmaster TX (wanted dat xbox compatability) and it is absolutely amazing playing this game now!

Admittedly the wheel that comes with it (the Ferrari 458 wheel) and pedals are a tad naff. Has anyone got that new TM Leather 28 GT Wheel Add-On?

My absolute favourite thing to do at the moment is drive the Mclaren F1 GTR around the ring (nor particularly fast mind you but it is epic fun) :D

Bought the downloadable content the other week. Been playing through the various cars on the 'ring and now finally my T500RS is getting the use it deserves trying to break the 7 minute barrier (I'm no sim racing pro) with the 458 GT2. The fact I can get around there without bouncing off a barrier or spinning is a big achievement for me!

Currently at 7:01.302. I've got that 'just one more lap' syndrome :o

Selling my T500 pedals in the MM if you're interested, they work with the TX wheels.

Just gave that a go to see if I could beat it lol.

Managed to get 6:58:021.

Really loving how amazing it feels to be blasting around the Nords especially in that 458 GT2. one of my favourite cars.

I have to agree, great car and the track feels so alive. Turn up the sound as well!
