Assetto Corsa

Had a quick go on this earlier at the brother-in-law's and I think I prefer Project Cars at present, although I did think the feel of the cars was decent in this but something felt missing can't put my finger on it.

Might grab this, looks very good, how is the psychics and handling compared to Forza 5 and Project Cars? loved Forza but Project Cars I dislike very much.

What about engine sounds etc? authentic? much tuning options?

Regards

I love SIMS, I love racing, but pCars felt weird, lots of people complained about it I'm not the only one.. I love DiRT Rally as well and that's a SIM.

I've seen comparison videos compared to pCars and this looks a lot better, might have to grab it!

Have pcars too and think it has its place as a half way between forza n AC IMO, And it does a great job of it. The gfx is a bit prettier in some ways too such as lighting model

AC is still the better simmer choice and its quite frankly a masterpiece for full on sweaty hands racing online where as PCars is a bit more accessible to masses and maybe "sugar coats" the experience a little more

Yeah it sounds so much better than the pCars version of the 97T, the down shifts sound good as well! it's in the sale at the moment so £25 aint bad really, are they going to carry on updating? and I know there are a lot of mods etc so that's good, is the multiplayer good?

Is it worth paying the extra £3 for the Dream Pack 1?

For the ring and extra cars (especially the P1) I would say the £3 extra is a no brainer

Plenty of updates in the pipeline along with big new car franchises like lambo coming soon as well as the bonus free cars they hinting at for the GT86

Anyone know of anything close to this on AC Modding scene and of good to high quality. Had a quick look for FWD drive but with the host of results that came up im not sure what's good bad or just ugly physics wise.

So Im looking for something small light. and basically standard (Puma cup cars can only use the Puma cup race pack which is very much basic.)

Puma is probably about equivalent to the Fiat 500 Abarth - there are two versions in AC, one is a tuned "track day" verision, a choice of street tyres or semi slicks too. Alternatively there is the Alfa that is also FWD, but its a bit heavier and has a bit more power. For mods you can try Civics, they are FWD +their physics are pretty good , download here http://assettocorsa.club/mods/auto

Spa is laserscanned in AC , so should be a great learning tool for the real thing :)

are they going to carry on updating?
Yep, free bonus pack with laserscanned Zandvoort and a bunch of cars (Nissan GTR street ver, Toyota Gt86, Audi Quattro etc) is imminent; DLC with Lambos, Audis, etc and Barcelona track is in the works too.

Have they made the AI even slightly attempt proper racing yet?

Haven't played since 1.0 went live I don't think...

AI are fun to overtake, but are poor at overtaking you back. They respect your racing line though and race clean which is great. AI is good fun if you start at the back ;)

Here some clips of AI action on med difficulty:

Yeah, I'm not sure how the console thing will pan out- one the one hand it will stretch the resources of the small AC team, on the other - extra revenue=extra licences for cars and tracks, more emphasis on gameplay content. We'll see, fingers crossed...

Project CARS proved you can do a console release on a small budget.

AC should be looking at the best mods and getting the modders to polish their own content so it can be added to the game officially on all platforms and then sharing the profits. Just like they did with the AC Cobra.
