Assetto Corsa

Assetto Corsa's Nordschleife is unbelievably good.

I mean, I've driven it in countless games and I've always enjoyed it(though not my favorite to actually *race* on), so I really didn't quite think it would be possible to do anything particularly special that would differentiate from the others dramatically, but I was quite wrong. It is the most 'alive' I've ever felt a digital track in a racing sim be. There are nuances that come across in the feedback that make it feel completely fresh to drive on. You may know the layout, but you definitely haven't ever experienced it like this.

It's just stunning. And spending time online with the Tourist layout, where you start out in the carpark and have to manually drive yourself out on to track along with other real players around you is one of the most immersive virtual driving experiences I've ever had. It's gonna be truly, truly ridiculous once we get consumer VR headsets to combine it with.

Completely agree. I've driven it solidly ever since the DLC release day and still can't get enough of it. Masterpiece of a track masterfully conveyed in AC package (graphics+ macro&micro topography+physics).

Just a heads up in case anyone is as daft as me

If you get the nasty over saturation issue with crossfire when starting a race. I used to do the alt tab to window and then again back to full screen which cured it.

Turns out page up and page down change the saturation settings.....DOH! That's a year of stupidity on my part! :( 50-60% seems spot on for me now

WOW is all i can say, I have been playing for the last hour and Nordschleife is something else compared to other racing games with the same track.. the physics and simulation is close to the real thing... I can see myself spending a lot of time on this game.. I am only using an xbox pad too, I really to get myself a wheel.

That Lotus 98T with 100% boost though.... as soon as turbo kicks in and the torque steer comes in... no words.

GAME IS GOLDEN.

Wheel is a game changer!

Mine is is only an old momo Logitech one but still fantastic. You get so much more feedback from the car :)

I hate the auto-saturation, so I disabled it in the "default" pp preset

Page Up and Page Down change the Exposure (bright or dark) rather than Saturation (vivid/dull), so if we are talking about disabling autoexposure and not auto saturation of the Default PP filter - its done in the default.ini (Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\system\cfg\ppfilters). Opnen default.ini and change "
[AUTO_EXPOSURE]
ENABLED=1"
to
"[AUTO_EXPOSURE]
ENABLED=0"

PS On frst boot into AC, press all the pedals fully once to calibrate them, otherwise you will have maximum braking from 30% pedal travel etc. Do that always in the first race you play, subsequent races do not need that.

Fixed for you :)
I have heard some people with G25/G27's have some problems with huge deadzones after 1.2 came out. Not me, thankfully, but that might be what is causing the problem.

Cuz certainly, saying Project Cars feels better is the first sign that something is very wrong. lol And I say that as somebody who likes Project Cars.

When I had a G27, project cars was really good on it, but assetto corsa and dirt rally were rubbish because of the deadzone and clunky FFB. On T300 its the opposite, pcars is mediocre, about the same or worse even compared to G27 (ignoring the hideous noise from the G27), but AC and dirt are 10x better than on the G27.

That's most likely a settings problem somewhere.

AC should not have 'clunky FFB' by any means. It's some of the best in the business. In terms of the deadzone, that's an issue that plagues many G27 owners in a variety of experiences. Typically, turning the power up to something like 107% in the Logitech Profiler fixed this, but not everybody knows about that. Sometimes a bit of messing around with the centering spring settings(in-game or external) is necessary, but not often.

But very few wheels work great with every application out of the box. In fact, the G25/G27 are probably the most well supported out there. The Assetto Corsa devs even use the G27 as their primary wheel during development.

No I meant the clunky FFB on the G27 because of the gears it uses, on the T300 it is not clunky.

I have owned a G27 and a T300 and the G27 was clunky in every game except project cars, because it has gear based FFB unlike the belt and dual motors in the T300. By clunky I mean you can easily feel the steps of the gears and also because it does not have a separate FFB motor, things like road effects and gravel on dirt rally interfere with steering.
