Assetto Corsa

I have 500 hours in AC and it's a great sim but right now I'm having much more fun in Dirt Rally so not sure wether to get this pack or not. I'm sure the Nords pack was cheaper than £10 for the first few days. edit yep I paid £7.33 so worth getting it early if at all.

YOur post made me look up DIrtRally again, and again I find a video like this
which says that DR is pretty poor physics wise... I did enjoy the new COdies F1 2015 for a few hours myself, but it was only for a few hours - poor physics instill bad driving habits (feet of lead etc) and coming back to AC,rF2 etc was painful. Do you not find something similar with DR ?

That's quite an old video, with a much earlier DR build than is currently out there.
If you look at GamerMuscles more recent videos he is much more complimentary about the game.

I have fairly recently gotten into DR and am enjoying it thoroughly, even though I'm pretty bad at it, it is good fun.
Much more of a 'game' in there than AC,

Back on AC, I fired it up last night to check its setup correctly ready for the new DLC and I was surprised how well it runs now on my tri-fire setup - i have everything maxed pretty much and its running at a very steady 60fps :)

Tried AC with headtracker (Freetrack2.2, but TrackIr should be similar) for the first time yesterday and it is crazy good fun :)

I'll tweak it a bit more but will only be playing with the tracker from now on. Spotting apexes, looking at side-by-side rivals... I never thought headtracker would be useful outside of flight sims, but boy, was I wrong :)

I don't really understand how head tracking works. If you turn your head, it recognises this and turns the screen viewpoint accordingly... but surely at that point you're no longer looking at the screen?

It's subtle. Plus if you look a bit to your right, you were obviously wanting to look at something on the right side of the screen anyways.

Works best being closer to your monitor, as you might imagine.

Ok cheers :)

Headtracking works because you turn your real head only a few degrees for the virtual one to turn 40, 90 or even 180 degrees (depending on the settings you choose), and there is also a deadzone so that little unintentional moves you are ignored by the headtracker.

What cards and resolution mate? Vsync?
Also, what profile are you using, if any?

I just had a go and the default profile doesn't fire up additional cards. Using the BFBC2 profile does though - and scales very well.
Using 15.8 on win8.1 btw.

Edit:
Saying that, I get ~100% usage on all three (with pretty much perfect fps scaling increases from 1-3 cards) when hotlapping alone, but add 20 cars and usage drops to around 50-60% and fps is about the same as running two cards. This is at 1440p.

Sounds like you're hitting a CPU bottleneck.

EDIT: Or maybe not, looking at what CPU you have.

I dunno. I'll let you guys be the judge of that :)
Cards at stock, cpu at 4.4Ghz. 1440p native.

Hotlap

Triple card

Dual card

Back of the grid with 19 AI

Triple card
Says 0% on card three at that moment, but they all fluctuate.

So yeah, there's no doubt that adding AI is pretty cpu intensive, but I'm not so sure that it's purely down to bottlenecking. What do you guys reckon?
Also tried it at 3200x1800 VSR and there's only a couple of fps difference.

Either way, I'm personally not too fussed as I usually just run with a single card due to doing my driving on a 40" 1080p tv anyway. Sometimes run two cards with 1440p VSR and that's cool.
Oh, and Spangles isn't my last name :D

I think you're being CPU limited there. Core 1 is being highly utilized and I'm betting that if I watched that figure over time, it would be jumping around quite a bit and probably bouncing pretty close to 100% at times.

So basically, it just hasn't been programmed to spread the CPU loads more evenly. Try monitoring it in MSI Afterburner or something and see what the peaks are. It only takes one CPU core to max out and bottleneck your whole system.

The fact that you can acheive nearly the same performance at a much higher resolution would support this idea.

Ah. Cheers guys.

I'm running 3 290's, with a 4770k processor at 4.5mhz
Screen is only a 1080 60hz but i'm running it with 1440 dsr
bfbc2 profile, vsynch is on

Dream Pack 2 Description:

Assetto Corsa Dream Pack 2

Welcome to DREAM PACK 2, the latest add-on content pack for ASSETTO CORSA.

This package adds the Circuit of Catalunya and eight new awesome cars in ten different versions to the Assetto Corsa racing game. Get it today and join the most thrilling virtual driving experience ever!

The Circuit of Barcelona
Due to its complexity, it took nine months of work to reproduce the Circuit of Catalunya. Laser Scanning Technology allowed the team to recreate the most faithful version of the Spanish track available in any racing game to date.

For the first time ever in a PC racing simulation, the Circuit of Catalunya has been digitally recreated using Laser Scanning Technology. Every single detail of the track has been reproduced with maximum level of precision. A resolution of 2 cm guarantees that every single bump, curb and slope is a perfect match to the real counterpart. The resulting accuracy combined with the advanced physics model of Assetto Corsa offers an unprecedented driving experience blurring even more the difference between virtual racing and reality.

The Cars
Similarly to Dream Pack 1, the cars in Dream Pack 2 were selected through polls, with gamers voting for their favourite manufacturers and models on our website. The pack includes a perfect mix of vehicles of different classes, types and periods, ready to satisfy our fans’ hunger for racing.

There is the Lamborghini Huracan GT3, introducing this awesome racing car produced by Lamborghini Automobili for the first time in any PC simulation, followed by the legendary Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattro Valvole. The epic Ford GT40 MK1 is the first FORD model to be included in Assetto Corsa. The AUDI R8 ULTRA 2014 is one of the most-wanted racing cars by Assetto Corsa fans, as well as other unique models such as the RUF RT12R and the SCG003 prototype, designed and built by Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus.
The BMW M4 Coupé also deserves a special mention, as this car has been reproduced in partnership with Akrapovič, a brand that is synonymous with the highest level of design, performance enhancement and the creation of an unmistakable, deeply resonant exhaust sound.

I have a TX wheel and just can't seem to get the brake pedal working properly. In a lot of cars just the slightest touch and I'm locking up. A few cars seem fine though (all racing cars).

iRacing, on the other hand, has never felt better with this wheel.
