Assetto Corsa

Heh, the DFGT was my second wheel after MS XB360 one and yeah, you're not wrong :D Good wheel, **** pedals.
My T300 pedals never even got out of their plastic, never mind the box...

Sounds like a plan :) If you didn't want to stretch to Clubsports, there's always the T3PA Pro's, which can be had for £150 when the time comes :) Or used Clubsports on the bay perhaps?

Yeah I keep reading good things about the T3PA-Pros. But I think that if and when I upgrade the pedals, I may have to go all out and get a set with load cells.

In that case, I'd keep an eye out for a set of Clubsport V1 or V2 on the bay, unless you're feeling real fancy and want some V3's.

Who am I kidding? We all want V3's :D

A load cell really does make a difference once you're used to it. It's worth spending the extra IMO.

This hobby gets expensive quickly!

Been looking at Thrustmaster's T300 RS bundle. Includes the 599XX wheel and T3PA pedals for £400. Seems a little steep but those are some very nice add-ons.

I've just upgraded my pedals from Fanatec V2's to V3's and I'm staggered at how much better they are. The pedal extensions and D plates are the icing on a very nice cake.

This is half price on Steam right now. Is it decent to play with a 360 controller?

I'm not much of a racing fan, but I did get hooked on Gran Turismo back in the day.

Worth a punt, or should I go for Dirt Rally?

Might want to go for Dirt Rally with a pad tbh.
You may find it frustrating going up against the majority of users using wheels online and racing AI or hotlapping will get old quickly.
Then again, there might be some good pad settings floating around.

Yeah, those extensions are what really attracts me due to my massive feet :D
Been thinking about selling my V1's (with Tilton pads) and going for it, but I'm currently doing some other expensive mods, so it'll have to wait.

In case you were wondering, I've already replaced the 599xx rim with a 320mm D shape rim and am currently building my own magnetic shifters and a button pod.

Yep, it ain't a cheap hobby, that's for sure...

Inside Sim Racing reckon that that Thrustmaster package is the best deal in sim racing right now fwiw.
Dunno about the pedals, but the 599xx rim is good if you don't have massive hands like me. as it's slightly thin. Definitely a good improvement over the stock PS4 rim and is bigger than both it and the GTE rim.

It certainly looks like a good setup, but it's £50 cheaper in Germany which really grates my ass. At £350 it's a no-brainer, but £400 is a bit high.

I'm out of the country from Xmas for 3 weeks, so I may just wait until I'm back to see if the Xmas price-gouging has subsided.

Two very different games. Neither are really built well for a controller nor are they comparable. Assetto is still a kind-of empty game where online is ok but most races are a clusterf***. For a more complete game I'd go for DiRT Rally.

Could just order it from ze Germans?

Fair point.
If it's the etailer I'm thinking of, they should be pretty good about it if anything should go wrong though. It just might cost a little more to return it is all I can think of.

It probably is the one you're thinking of :) Their UK branch doesn't sell the bundle which is quite annoying!

I've contacted Thrustmaster UK to see if they would deal with any warranty claims in the the future. I'll report back for those that may have the same question.

Thrustmaster don't have the best reputation for reliability :( May be difficult to deal with a warranty claim outside of the UK.

I have a T300 GTE and the T3PA pedals. Excellent combination however it wasn't smooth buy.

First wheel i got the rim was faulty, the second the base unit gave up after a days use. It went back to Thrustmaster (prepaid Parcel Force to France) and 2 weeks later i had it back repaired. Another couple of hours use and it went wrong again. To there credit after much screaming on my part they sent an advanced replacement and UPS collected my original unit without any fuss. The new base has been so far (touches wood) faultless after approx 15 - 20hrs of use and is excellent on Dirt Rally, PC, AC, RF, RF2 etc. Now considering the load cell mod on the T3PA's.

Whoever you speak with support wise will be in France, they offer a UK number (which calls France) and the warranty stuff with all my issues were prepaid by them. They are just slow to respond to mails and tracking info is somewhat lacking without pushing them for it.

Thanks Sh4rkie. A bit of a mixed review there. You got what you needed but not without a great deal of hassle.

I'm glad to hear that you think the T300 with the T3PA pedals are a great combo though :) Do you use the conical brake mod?

Since you guys know a lot about you're wheels Are the Logitech's new series good for a beginner with no prior experience of using a PC racing wheel?

Thinking about picking one up for a Christmas present to myself, Shall I go for the G29 or G920, Would I also be better sticking with the paddles on the wheel or also getting the shifter?

Yes, they're decent wheels for beginners and experienced alike.

G29 for PC/PS4
G920 for PC/XBONE
Other than that, they're internally the same.
Start with paddles and then think about whether you want a shifter IMO.

Maybe see if you can find a cheap G27 if you're just using PC/PS3, as it's essentially the same thing.

I had one of the early T500 wheels and although the fan was noisy and a paddle shift switch was a bit flakey, it was trouble free for years and I sold it on when I upgraded.

Aye for the price segment i don't think there is a better combo as long as you get a good one. The T3PA's regularly turn up sub £70 and well worth the investment.

I tried the mod but couldn't get on with it in the brief time i played with it. I probably need more time to adjust to the change in behaviour and will revisit playing with it again. Just having too much fun on DR to be motivated change it over again at this point.

Dear Mr. XXX

Regarding your query.
Thank you for contacting us on this occasion.

You may place the order on XXX Germany. Should the situation arise, the filing of a warranty claim should be dealt with between you, as end user, and us, the Thrustmaster Technical Support. No shipping to Germany will be required for this either way. This will however imply higher shipping costs.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for any other queries.

Not the answer I was expecting, but good news nonetheless!
