Assetto Corsa

If you like Nords and the other cars/tracks included in the packs, then yes :)

Also, if you want to get the best out of the online experience, then you'll find that having the packs is going to give you access to a lot more servers.

Whats wrong with the T500 pedals?, I think they're great
The brake pedal with the conical mod is awesome, but the clutch and gas are a bit weak. I could easily go 3x stiffer on the clutch and 2x as stiff on the gas.

I'd have gotten some Clubsport V2's instead if not for the fact that I wanted a setup that would all work with the PS4 too, so I needed to keep things in the family with my T300RS.

I do like the inverted pedal setup, though. One of the big reasons I went for the T3PA Pro's(basically the same thing as the T500 pedals) instead of the regular T3PA's.

are the dream packs worth it? I was going to buy this when you could shop with rubles on steam :D
I'd say definitely. Even outside the Nordschleife pack(must own), I've pretty much found at least one car in each pack that justifies the cost alone.

In the most recent one, it's the F138. It's just completely insane and feels so darn violently thrilling once you get a handle on it. And it really does feel require some getting used to it, both finding the limits and managing the DRS and KERS(often simultaneously) and all.

Just tried the Maserati 250F 6 cyl at Brands Hatch like y'all and I simply cant drive it. I did 7 laps and only managed one clean one. A 2:06 something.

I love the idea of these old classic race cars, but I hate driving them. I do not like having to tiptoe around a track and spend the entire lap in perpetual oversteer. There's nothing fun for me about it. I much prefer cars that I can lean on a bit. I dont mind having to wrestle a slide here and there or to work the throttle out of a slow corner, but I want to be able to push and really *get in* the throttle and clip my apexes with a precision feeling rather than wobbling around them sideways.

Same here.

Each to their own, I guess. A lot of people seem to love them.

man the red pack cars

how fast is the Ferrari SF-15T :D

its like driving a rocket :p

on nords first two laps got it down to 5:58 on default.so fast.handles beautifully you just have to watch on corners though slight over on the throttle you feel the car slip but in a good way

I think you really need a proper gearbox to get the most out of these old cars. I myself have found them so much more enjoyable since getting a Fanatec CSS seq. Nothing beats the satisfaction of some good heel and toe action :)

Yeah, you're probably right :) A couple of our drivers say the same thing.
I would get a proper shifter, but don't currently have anywhere decent to mount one. Gotta wait till I build a proper simrig...

On the odd occasion that I do drive the oldies, I get by with a bit of manual blipping under braking on the downshifts to settle it a little.

Despite the vagueness of brakes and steering, I do really like the FFB you get with some of them though.

I have T3PA-Pro pedals and a TH8A shifter and it does not help. It certainly makes it more involving, but the car does not become easier to drive as a result.

It's really a matter of taste when it comes down to it. Not everybody likes a car that has to be tip-toe'd around a track. Some of us prefer the invigoration of pushing a car hard and getting stuck in.

it depends on the driver at the end of the day.

each are different. some may be faster on auto box some maybe quicker on manual flippers some maybe faster on a normal gearstick.

thing is on very fast cars the split times you can gain if good make it obviously better with manual gearing but....if you setting average times on a manual gearstick some one on auto who is decent will often beat them as they will go flat out but not have to worry about getting the right gearing.

so its really where you sit in sim racing.i know for a fact on the fanatec shifter i tried there is no way in hell i could shift it quick enough.

often why many full rigged guys are slower overall than people with cheaper logitech wheels and the like.

As Sean said, it really depends on what you prefer driving. It's not just about how fast you can go with whatever equipment.

I don't know if I'd go quicker with a manual shifter in the old cars or not, but I do know that it wouldn't make me like them a whole lot more - regardless of the extra involvement.

i owned them all before but couldn't find a wheel setting i agreed with. but after getting the game again and it was on steam offer i thought i would try it again :D glad i did as i found a random steam post for my wheel and its very nice.

been blasting the ferrari on nords now down to 5:43.278  just messing with car settings now trying to squeeze the extra time out.
