Assetto Corsa

 must be a crazy expereince :)

It's awesome mate, everything is 3d and life sized. The video can't convey the sense of scale :) Is like having a life sized F1 car in your front room! I sometimes can't help but just keep swearing as I drive along, it's all too much!

Anyone else getting crackling and static noise when you race with congested grid? When there are lots of cars close by I get horrible fuzzy crackling noise always. I've read hundreds of others with the same issue and seen many posts about it on official forums. It's suggested that editing channels in the audio.ini file helps and also changing latency to normal in game, but it's still really bad for me.

When I hotlap or there are no cars around me it's fine, but when there's lots of engine noise from multiple cars that's when I get it bad.

I used to use that, but it turned out that it was known to cause issues like stuttering here and there, which I suffered from until uninstalling it.

Perhaps it's sorted now. It was a few game updates ago.
It does cause stuttering for like the first few seconds as the track loads, but I've had no performance problems otherwise.

I don't. Just car noise and sometimes horns.

Glad it helped man.

Yes it did, amazing how just a few settings can make the world of difference. Hasn't made me an amazing driver, good settings can't mask lack of talent.. But least I can safely say when the car goes for a trip across the gravel is not due to the wheel setup, its down to me running out of talent (or lack of it lol)

Thanks..

Amazing game with a G29. Much fun indeed.

Perceived resolution in the Rift/Vive is something like going back to a 480p display, unfortunately. 2160x1200 for a full 100 degrees of your vision really isn't much in the end.

I think what VR brings is totally worth the resolution hit, though.

Is it not weird shifting with the right hand DG?

well thats for him.i dont see much of a issue also you can put it either side with the set ups.:D

just uploading a video of me practicing with the GTR . really liking it now will start to push more now understanding the track more. time for some more DLC me thinks :p

yeah I get that, but I'm not a real racing driver, I drive every day with my gearstick on the left in a right hand drive vehicle....that's my point.

Ah i know that, but so do i and every other sim racer in real life here in the UK, to me its natural to use right more than left as i do in a real car anyway, your get use to it straight away.

hmm i've never actually had a shifter so never used one. It just looks really weird on the right, I get the impression it would be strange at first.

Well i been driving real cars for more than 30 years using left gear shifting like we do, and i went straight to using right hand shifting for my sims to match my racing games i play, and not had a problem at all, i am right handed thou :)

ED: And turn off suggested line. It really doesn't help, apart from giving you a rough idea. Problem is, it teaches you dodgy braking points.

Just read this, and 100% yes, agreed. I would use ideal line all the time before I got into PC racing games, and yes it does nothing to help you, it hinders more then anything.

You end up just following the line and not actually learning anything from it, and you pick up bad habbits from it.

I also turn off TC or at least set the TC to factory as some cars need TC such as the road mclarens as they are designed to use TC etc..

Yeah, if you just set it to factory, you have the option to turn it off completely or incrementally. Best of both worlds :)

Like you say, it just offers you the features that the car has in real life and it's your choice to use them or not.

I know the rulle of thumb be patient, practice>fast on the straight>slow into corner>fast out.

Any important apps l should use.

Good beginners cars to start with.

Thanks.

Maserati 250F (6cyl variant) would be an excellent car to start with but you need the Red Pack DLC. No downforce, hard narrow tyres and ample power really teach you to be smooth with your inputs. You can hold very generous slip angles too which equals a lot of fun although not the fastest way around track. 250F + Monza historic = :D:D:D (just a shame we can't run on the banking)

Edit: For many of the same reasons I would suggest the MX-5 Cup - which I just remembered is in the Japanese car pack and not included in the base content like iracing. Doesn't have big power so relies on you keeping the momentum up to be quick.
