Assetto Corsa

Is it worth my money if I currently play PC2 and really enjoy that? What I'm trying to say is, will I get much more enjoyment from this that I won't already have from PC2?

Absolutely as it's a fantastic racing Sim, it should be in everyone's library if they are SIM racing fans.

I have both games and don't play PC2 now. Project Cars 2 looks stunning sure, has a nice career although a little boring due to AI inconsistencies. For mr it just misses the mark as a whole package which would make me come back to it when I need some SIM racing. Assetto just feels better, sounds better and has an incredible modding community. Get RSRtiming mod and SRS (online system akin to iracing) its fantastic for clean decent online racing.

Project Cars to me always feels like a console game trying to be a sim racer ported to PC, where AC is a true pc sim designed first and foremost for pc for racing enthusiasusts.

I can do, picking up a puppy tonight, last day at work and run up to Christmas means I'll be pretty busy. Will find a way though

Great stuff, cheers Tony. And good luck with the new pup!

RSRtiming and SRS sound interesting. I've been wanting to get into online racing but don't know the best route outside of iRacing. I'll definitely have a look over the holidays.

Interesting. Second question that I've just thought of, would I be better off just getting AC Competizione? (I know its only in early access)

I was going to wait it out, it looks very average at the moment and ppl that own ACC would still rather play AC.

Thanks mate.

@Yadda I posted a couple of vids a little while back.
Things have changed a little, but not massively since then.

In addition to GBW, you'll want BLM Car to adjust raindrops/wipers/mirrors and BLM Lights to toggle lighting etc.
You may also want the Wet mod.

You can also join the Discord channel to easily download updates and stuff like lighting configs for various tracks via this link: https://discord.gg/6Q5t3m

Yes you like GT3 racing- ACC is pretty awesome already, but it has nothing but GT3/Blancpain cars and tracks. AC's GT3s are less visceral in all regards - physics, sounds, visuals- but AC has a lot more breadth with street cars, formula cars, GT1/2/3/4, historic, drift, mods of course... Also AC is much better optimised for VR, I get 90 fps maxxed out.

It's all subjective taste tbh, but he gets points from me for including the Ferrari 643 and the Honda racing mower :D

Other stuff:

Anything made by this guy: https://www.racedepartment.com/search/29375677/ Sorry, best search parameters I could do.

There are other mod sites with tons of content, but it's hit and miss. Best bet is to check out the car and track categories on Race Dept and look at the ratings if you think it's something you might like.

SOL 1.0 has been released!

I've had a little dabble with it and it's brilliant. 24hr cycle with beautiful sunrise/sunsets, varying weather conditions and all that good stuff.
Expect some videos later :)

No online functionality yet, but it's coming at some point.

:eek::cool:

I had only just tried out the good and bad weather suite!

Does anyone have recommendations for nvidia Control panel settings in VR for this game?

I had settled on some decent settings, then started tinkering and turning settings up using reprojection. Now I'm a bit lost again!

brilliant, been waiting and waiting for Peter to release it.

Do you need to remove all the other shaders and Good&Bad weather suite first?

I had it maxxed out with comfortable 90fps on my 2500K+1080ti, didn't touch the nvidia settings. It's the most optimised VR racing game imo. Reprojection is a no-no for fast action games like this, 90fps is what you're after. If you find you need to drop some settings, reflections, mirrors and smoke quality would be my first candidates (but like I said, you shouldn't need to).

In case you haven't done it yet, you install the latest shader lights patch (disable the old version first! - Content>Mods), then install SOL (MANUALLY - not via CM) and disable all weathers except the default ones and obviously the new SOL types in CM. No need to uninstall
It's all in the instructions anyway :)

Brill. I did download the mod last night and had a quick skim through the pdf doc but thanks for advice.

Thanks. I may be being picky but like to minimise as far as possible any jaggies and shimmering. I've found on my Odyssey best way so far was 200ss via steamvr and renderscale 2.0 in wmr cinfig file (now the default setting in the beta version). I have a few presets saved in Content Manager and prefer improved IQ (with some artefacts and strangeness! ) using reprojection setting "motionvector" (always on). I still seem to struggle without this setting if I have too many AI (limiting myself to circa 6 cars in legends mod for example) . Think I'm running current cpu over clock at 104.6bclk and 42 multiplier...

I wanted to do a couple of VR vids, but there's currently a bug that makes the Oculus mirror go blank at some point in the transition from or to night and day. The mirror is what gets recorded, so....
Here's a quick non-VR vid I made to help someone troubleshoot on RD in the meantime.
