Assetto Corsa

I've found on my Odyssey
Ah! I'm using Oculus with its lower res and default settings in Steam... I've tried messing around with SS/pixel density stuff during my first weeks in VR, but in the end saw very little difference to the default settings and never touched them since.
PS I wish Samsung would stop being strange and release Odyssey in the EU/UK already :(

Here's a quick non-VR vid I made to help someone troubleshoot on RD in the meantime.

I've only played around with different weather and time of day. Love racing VR at night. Didn't realise this also updates mirrors to dynamic - or did I install another mod I forgot about?!

Transition looks great, I'm going to have to start playing with those settings myself...

I wondered if you were using rift. I ordered with the Black Friday deal @ $299 but still ended up costing about £400-450 via Bigapplebuddy! Think it would have been cheaper but a longer wait and more uncertainty if I used BH Photo...

The mirrors are part of the shader lights mod.

To tweak them further for stuff like giving them stereoscopic 3d depth and seeing your helmet in them, go to assettocorsa>extension>config>smart mirror and play with the options.

Here are my settings for example:
[REAL_MIRRORS]
; Real Mirrors (proper, accurate reflections, with separate textures for different mirrors, could be quite costly)
ENABLED=1 ; Active; 1 or 0
SHOW_CAR=1 ; Show car in reflections; 1 or 0
VR_STEREO=1 ; Stereo reflections in VR; 1 or 0
VR_LOCK=0 ; VR lock; 1 or 0
SHOW_HEAD=1 ; Show driver head in reflections; 1 or 0
RENDER_PER_FRAME=0 ; Refresh rate per frame (set it to 1 to make real mirrors refresh less frequent, but have practically zero FPS cost); update everything is 0, update single reflection per frame is 1, update two reflections per frame is 2, update three reflections per frame is 3
RENDER_ONLY_VISIBLE=1 ; Render only visible mirrors (doesn’t work with virtual mirror at the moment); 1 or 0

Thanks Uncle Petey. Impressed how it looks at default settings but will have a play when I sort out settings for a day/night race. Any tips for a good track to try the latter on that will perform well in VR?

Had a play with SOL tonight, wow just wow. What a masterpiece this mod is. 20 lap 25 grid gt3 race at Lemans with time set to x10. The transitions of the sunset/sunrise with scattered clouds made me almost fall back off my chair. What a fantastic mod this is.

By the way @Uncle Petey, would you take a screenshot of your shader screen in CM please? The one that shows CPU and GPU optimizations?

This version of Suzuka https://mega.nz/#!syQmXSoI!jKjFbOR5aumJhbBcuGMAfHzfiNF7ksFjVuFSkQGKvxU
Has every layout + Wet versions and should have it's lighting config files without you having to source them separately.

- Download BLM Lights and also BLM Car if you want. Use BLM lights to toggle track and car lighting on/off and brightness. Use BLM car to play with raindrops, wipers and mirror positioning.

Gorgeous innit :D

Haven't really played with this tbh, but here you go.

Oh, and in case anyone wasn't aware, changing the date of the session will affect the sunset/sunrise times to reflect reality. It also adds seasonal changes like snow or autumn textures to a bunch of tracks depending on what time of year you pick.
It even has moon phases and solar eclipses...

And another oh! Make sure you have geotags set for your tracks.
This will make sure that sun position and real weather settings are what they should be.

Or even do it by using the address:

Usually you can just click 'Find'. If not, the above sorts it out.

Guys, I've just started using CM in earnest as my game launcher but have already manually installed some car, track and visual mods. Can they still be managed by CM?

9 times out of 10, yeah.
I was using CM for ages and doing stuff manually before I realised you could directly install with a quick drag/drop. Probably more than half of my added content wasn't installed through CM.

That's handy, cheers Petey.

What did you do with those which CM doesn't retrospectively detect? Manually remove them and re-install through CM?

Ok. Basically, it doesn't really matter if they're installed manually or with CM, as long as they're installed in the right place, in which case CM will detect it.
Just make sure you follow any install instructions, like with GBW/SOL which need to be done manually anyway.

I only said 9/10 because there's bound to be something I haven't come across that might cause issues.

Fair enough, that makes sense. I probably won't give SOL a go just yet as I've only just installed Reshade to allow me to use GBW properly. What a difference!

Anyway, I've just sent my donation to the CM guys and am waiting for my full version key. "Content-->Mods" will soon be ungreyed which should make juggling mods easier (e.g. GBW and SOL).

You wouldn't use it for those. You'd use it for the shader lights patch and other stuff.

Cheers, I realised that afterwards. I installed the shader lights patch (latest version for Sol) for the first time and noticed that it populated the shader patch tab in CM. Blimey, there's a lot going on there! How does it all fit in with SweetFX and Reshade?
